Yeah, I suggested that a while ago, both because of its proximity with other tropical ID countries, and because being affected by El Nino justifies having someone to control the weather to avoid the local culture going the way of Moche. I'm glad you asked! I actually wrote something about it: https://rentry.org/vtwbg-meatlore#naval-history-of-meat-and-its-influence-on-contemporary-meat-ship-design
The /meat/ risuner story also touches on a bit of the design from a character's perspective, but it's admittedly fairly limited.
Back when the whole thing was being formulated, I touched upon the idea of /meat/ ships sharing some similarities with /risu/ ships like the pinisi, which both helps justify /meat/heads teaching risuners how to sail (as the similar designs mean many of the knowledge is transferrable with minimal adjustment), as well as potentially serving some kind of deeper interconnected lore, like what if the two designs have a common ancestor? It doesn't have to be, but it's something interesting to think about.
The main difference (apart from some technicalities about sail design) would be that /meat/ ships usually have a midship castle, while pinisi seems to opt for a more conventional "western" aftcastle design for the hull. Armament arrangement (if the risuner ship is armed) would also differ as well. /meat/ ships they see might be bigger, but that's more because Atoyavik is a major port than anything inherent about /meat/ ship designs.

Thanks for laying it out, /meat/head! This was the history I had in mind while writing, but I couldn't find the relevant entry.
Also, to go a bit more into Mea's and Aria's detective work, their thought process is that clocks started uplifting /risu/, there have been events linking /inf/ to /meat/, and Risuners suddenly learned how to sail and build ships that share characteristics with /meat/ ships. Suspicious!

The basics are
>Religion
Your vtuber(s) is/are the deity, and tolerance is based off how your general treat other vtubers from the same or other pantheons
>Traditions/Rites
Based off your general's culture, memes, namefags/posters, and ritualposts
>Diplomacy
Based off your general's opinion of other generals
>History
Based off the creation of your general and everything it had been through. If there's a period your general was not made for a month or more, then it would also get acknowledged

FAQ
1. Can my vtuber be my leader?
The world is based off /vt/. If there are to be actual vtubers directly involved in the government/religion then they must also be on /vt/. Aka being /here/.
2. But what if the spot I got on the map does not match the vtuber's lore/theme etc?
It doesnt matter really. The country is based off your general and its anons, not the vtubers. If your vtuber is jungle themed but your country's climate is desert then you can use creativity to relate them both.

/wg/ is home to a wide range of people and cultures, having no official national religion as a result. However, despite its proximity to the niji states, /wg/ is primarily occupied by followers of the holo pantheon. There are a large variety of languages spoken in /wg/ as well. Polyglotism is actually quite common in the country, with many citizens speaking 2-3 languages. As a result of this diversity, /wg/ quickly obtained a reputation as a place with something for everyone. No matter your beliefs or tastes, you are bound to find a community of like-minded individuals somewhere within our borders. The western coastal towns which make up the Google Docks have a fairly diverse population, as do most major cities (with the notable exception of Omelas, which is overwhelmingly /fbk/-oriented). However, as you go further inland it is not uncommon to come across small towns where all the people worship a singular chuuba. These villages can sometimes serve as microcosms of other nations, allowing someone to experience a taste of many different cultures in a fraction of the travel time.

>>23837956 I remembered
Dianas logs ch 2.

(Before arrival)
Well the time is upon us. We have found the /meat/ mainland and the entire crew is a mix of excited, scared, and even a few are hoping for vengeance for lost family. I gave extremely strict orders that nobody is to attack under any circumstances unless they are attacked first.
Every contingency plan is in effect in case a deal cannot be made. And we damn well know what were gonna do if a single one of us goes missing.
The landing point appears to be a forest. As we closed in it seemed to be a nice looking place quite similar to home. A bit of relief in what would be the most stressful mission any risuner to date would take.

(Arrival at the shores)
The pinisi is parked and we began unloading. So far no sign of any natives. And thank fucking god because even though there are only 35 of us we look like a small raid force. I thought it best to ascend the trees and travel extremely light. 3 groups of 5 will split and explore each with special horns that we would blare in case any danger arrives.
Moving along the trees we realized that the forest is not nearly as big as we thought it was going to be. There was a decently sized flat land in front of us and from very far away we could see what looked like some kind of structure. Seemed like a good place to check out so scout teams moved as close as they could before nightfall took over.

(Night time)
Well fuck. It seems these people may be onto us. Everyone is on extreme high alert. They have whole patrols everywhere but they're not coming to the forest. At least not yet. The kronies did mention some big bay farther to the west that was very active so i'm guessing that they must be lighting up that particular bay. Must be important to them.
Luckily the boats did not seem to notice us. Must be because of the dark so I take it as a sign of good luck and Risu watching over us. There is no way this will last forever. We will be seen at some point so I shall designate a meeting point that gives us a good escape route.

(Day 2)
We evaded any form of contact but I fear with these guys constant ships going in and out that this will not last long. 15 risuners guard the ship and have orders to either flee on boat or in the forest in case of attack. Me and the rest split into 4 teams of 5 and move in. Eventually we confirm that building sighting earlier and decide to move in.
After climbing some steps we come across some sort of shrine to one of the meat goddesses. Most of the crew at this point are overly paranoid and weapons drawn. I give a general statement and order to everyone.
"Listen up Risuners! I understand that you all have lost family and friends in the raids of the past. Believe me I know the feeling, most of you know my grandparents were both taken a few years back. But if you resort to killing them then not only will that make the situation worse and further endanger innocent risuners but get yourselves killed too. Even with our new iron weapons and armor we are no match for warriors of their skill. We are her to put a STOP to all of this once and for all, not to let it continue. We cannot go back in time so instead let us change the future to ensure the survival of /risu/. I know many of you want reparations for people taken and I will definitely negotiate that with these guys. The kronies are our friends and they seem to trust them so why cant we?
"We know that they will come here to this statue and light fires for the bay down there. It will be here that we meet the first of their people. And let me make one thing clear. If ANY OF YOU FUCKS ATTACK UNPROVOKED I WILL KILL YOU MYSELF AND LET THEM DO WHAT THEY WANT WITH YOUR BODY!"
For a moment it seemed that they were even more scared of me that the meatheads. I did what I had to do. Most of /risu/ are grateful for the iron gifts, the knowledge of strange but wonderful new lands, and of course the assistance in designing and building our first pinisi. These people that I call my crew are for the most part the last of those who feel the desire for revenge. They were the only ones who volunteered for this mission and I knew why really quickly.
And now as I am writing this we wait. Wait for the night crews to come, if that is a regular occurence. The plan is set and now there is absolutely no turning back.

(Day 2 afternoon)
Welp. They found our ship. The risuners guarding it immediately took what they could and fled into the forest. They were so out of breath when they arrived since they brought most of the cargo with them. Strangely the meatheads didnt emerge from the forest. My guess is that they must be going to one of their cities to tell someone that were here. Well at least all of us are here. With extra trading commodities and the safety of the other half of the crew I feel a bit better. They know we are here. Now all there is to do is wait for someone to show up and hope its not an army. Risu please protect us.

My headcanon is that regardless of origin, most /meat/heads end up taking a cult name (Nahuatl name) when they officially join the cult or get high-ranked enough (although one can argue that the former is usually a prerequisite for the latter). Basically kind of like how Roman cognomen or Chinese courtesy names originally worked. As such, the official will basically be referred to by their cult name instead of their original name (although if they come from a significant enough family, they might not have a non-cult name to begin with).
Anything you can tell us about the official? Things like gender, personal characteristics, and maybe inspirations?

Lets make him come from a big city but not one of the main ones, and he is something akin of a middle class self-made man. He's religious but pragmatic, something needed for diplomacy, and also he is in the headspace that while his religion is the true way he accepts after his numerous travels and relationships that respecting other cultures ways of thinking is a desire of him, as he wants the same for /meat/. He has mixed feeling about randoms raids at this day and age, but not about the mission of sacred war his people have. /risu/ lumber may not have a market in west Holo-Continent outside of firewood due to the lumber drying out and "dying" before it reaches there. /uuu/ would serve as a lumbering HUB of the west continent while /risu/ serves the east. So both of your forests are cornerstones of Holo-continent construction.

How about Tlapalxochitl? Xochitl means "flower", which has a rather diverse set of meanings in Nahuatl, while tlapal(li) can mean anything from paint (and ink) to red to multi-coloured plants. The ink correlation seems fitting for a translator (and diplomat to a lesser extent), and redness is also used to imply making a valiant effort (from face reddening after exercise), which seems fitting for a self-made man. Of course, multi-coloured plants can also suggest either his pragmatism and acceptance of foreign culture or, according to his ideological opponents, of varied allegiance.

Nice post as always! I would like to ask if the events in Day 2 means the risuners approached the fortified shrines that they saw earlier, of if it's a different (likely smaller) shrines that happen to be in the way?
Before I write a response post, I should probably ask, well, how does Diana look like? Is Diana a he or a she? Can it be told from a distance anyway? Also, it won't come up for now, but what's your thoughts on eventually meeting an old raider who used to raid /risu/ in their prime? Maybe potentially letting some of them help in their funeral/human sacrifice?

>>23855891
One way or another... Probably will be quite diplomatic, though, since /meat/heads probably see the risuners as guests (even if they look like very confused tourists). The welcoming party would still be armed, but that's more a general /meat/ thing than any perceived needs to fight seriously. I thought about making the welcoming party smaller than the risuner headcount-wise, and maybe having a cart-load of some food and water just in case they need it.

Given that he was implied to be from a relatively remote area of the country that later became a professional, odds are he would have both a commoner (Norse) name and a proper (Nahuatl) name, but which one he goes by probably depends on his view over the clergy as a whole.

He is religious, but he's unorthodox because he is against any kind of force cannibalism, but not about the cannibalism on itself. He believes the 'sacrifice' is the act of using the meat without any human limits put to them, including eating it. Don't worry about that, making names are fairly easy with Nahuatl (or Norse for that matter) since many of the names are basically combining two elements into one (you might know that pattern from how First Nations names often get translated).
As for the Doctor, what do you think about Amundr? Perhaps kind of an ironic name, given that it means "fatherly protector". Alternatively, Thrudstigr ("strong path") might work too, even if it looks a bit unpronounceable.

Why not have Saplings be a hybrid of human and plants? Saplings could even be a symbiotic species of humans that also have plants growing inside them. The plants would give Saplings all of the energy they need but cannot be removed from a Sapling's body. Saplings would also need to feed with roots that come outvof their hands and feet. The roots in hands can also serve as a sapling's weapon as they can pierce just about any animal. Roots can also be extended and used as grappling hooks allowing Saplings to easily climb and swing in trees better. Sapling's don't have hair. They have long thin leaves that are similar to hair from their heads. Also when Saplings mate the child at conception is given a seed to germinate along with the pregnancy. Children will need breastmilk until they come of age to properly "eat" using their roots. That said Saplings could still eat with their mouths as their digestive tracks are synched up with the symbiotic plant.

The roots also serve to communicate with other plants and fungi. A sapling can tap their roots into the roots of other plants and fungi and talk to them. They can also talk "through" the root network to other saplings if they're connected.

I've been wanting a symbiote species of humans and plants for a while. This is just an idea. Take it as you will.

That works, I guess they probably got spotted by the firekeepers of the shrine, who then went to the city to fetch the welcoming party, which will include a /meat/ risuner either because the spotter recognise them as risuners, or they (gender pending) just happen to be around. They might even meet on the trees while the rest of the party move on the ground.

Nope, entirely herbivorous. the beaks are mainly for self defense and rooting out those pesky plants, they did spend a decent few million years in /uuu/ evolving for vegetation that is much tougher. While they could snap off flesh in a fight, they wouldn't consume said flesh. And as for their smarts, they would be about the same as most animals, maybe a bit smarter, but not on the level of, for example, crows or the like.

>>23875172
Yea, I read that entry and I couldn't stop thinking about them my entire shift that night. It's such a unique biome, to be able to induce densification of muscle tissue as well as calcification, which you would think would be a bad thing, but their bodies instead of fighting it and evolving to, for example, filter out chuubanite that causes those mutations out, evolved to just roll with it. And the mention of intraskeletal nervous system, which if i understood correctly, would mean most, if not all, of their nervous system is contain within their bones. And that, my friend, cannot be just a chuubanite mutation, as it would be too extreme, at least in my opinion. If we assume that most other animals have nervous systems like IRL, where it extends throughout all their tissue, it would make this species of sloth, and it's continental cousin, a truly alien form, dating their closest ancestor to basically anything else millions, if not billions of years back.

And if Deadbeats share their nervous system setup, that would also basically make it easier for a sloth to have babies with a deabead than any of the other humanoid species on the planet, looking at you squirrel friends since they would more closely related than us. It is a extremely fascinating proposition, since it would be the same as if a humanoid species evolved from fish that didn't go on land almost 400m years ago. While we would look similar, we would be worlds apart.

And even if they don't, there are still more things to ask about the environment on /morig/. For example, if chuubanite, which is everywhere, really causes calcification of the tissue, and it's not just a mutation exclusive to the sloth unrelated to the biome, it would probably be the only place on this planet where avian life just could not exist, even if it wanted to, since more mass would inhibit their flight. Unless of course *wink wink* if there were species that only migrated through /morig/ on a yearly basis, eventually developing mutations to combat the chuubanite for their brief stay there, and even further down, settling there permanently, being able to retain flight due to filtering chuubanite out of their bodies before it could cause any mutations.

if that were the case, then people could learn how they did it, potentially leading to the discovery of a way to get around it entirely. i guess it's an interesting idea, but we might need to regulate how it worked i guess.

Ok, so I read through it, and here are my thoughts:

1: The conversation seems too short, specially when Alex gives the code to Mac. I know you said it's just one paragraph of the end, but to me it seems really rushed. Fluff is good sometimes. Sorry if this point seems condescending, it's kinda hard to explain certain things with my ESL brain.

2: While Alex would be kinda aware of a sub-faction behind the whole mess, he would have basically no info on them, and what he would have would be 2nd hand account from the /meat/ priestess. I wanted to lean into the "apostle of the ancient ones" in Sana's lore as well as connections with northern schizos. This would be mainly to preserve some mystery and keep it open if a season two ever happens.

3: What Jonathan is doing right now wouldn't be a mutiny, that's what Alex is doing. Jonathan is following the directives of the council, which also punished Alex in the first place. He is kinda their face, and is fighting his own battle behind closed doors to acquire more power in the council for himself so he can eventually govern the station on his own.
Yes, he might have some dictatorship goals, exacerbated by his, involuntary might i add, involvement with the cult trying to pull the strings in the background (the tattoo influencing his emotions and stuff), but in the eyes of the station residents, he is still their leader, and Alex is the weird fucker that put them in their current predicament (even if their dislike of him cooled down over the last couple of weeks, now that they experienced this new life)

That would come with tech that is centuries in the future. If we are talking now, the only way they could filter chuubanite that was in everything, air, water, plants, was if, through generations, their bodies naturally evolved to filter it out (basically evolving their kidneysto process it). That is, of course, only if their bodies recognised it as toxic to itself and tried to combat it. If there was profits to be had, or the body just couldn't adapt fast enough, it would just become another part of them.

As for regulations, with it right now being a completely biological process, you can't really do it, and I don't really see any drawbacks if technology that could filter it out sprung up in the future.

Ahh I'm glad you enjoy deadbeat anthropology! Writing that was a ton of fun I drew a lot from the musculoskeletal biomechanics course I took that semester.
Here is the interesting thing: bones are actually already strongly innervated (have nerves going through them)! So my view of it is that Mori chuubanite simply promotes increased innervation within the skeleton and reduces it in muscle and skin tissue, however it cannot be 100% contained inside the bone, since muscles do require nervous signals for activation. This way, when comparing a normal human nervous system and a deadbeat nervous system, you can envision a smooth transition from the one to the next, basically the innervation density increases and decreases depending on whether you're looking at bone or tissue. But it's the same basic building blocks.
However, as you say, this couldn't be done purely through chuubanite mutation, as the nervous system has a slow cellular turnover. So I think this would be a mutation that has to be promoted by chuubanite as early as the embryonic stage of development. An adult would never see as much intra-skeletal innervation as a Deadbeat born and raised on /morig/, no matter how long he stayed on the island.
Basically, if you inseminated two women with a cloned fertilized egg, and one mother had a high chuubanite content, while the second had none at all, the first child would have a high innervated skeleton, while the second would have a normal distribution.
To put it another way, those sorta extranatural changes are not caused by Mori chuubanite changing the genetic code of the human; they're caused by the Mori chuubanite changing how stem cells interpret the genetic code.
From a meta standpoint, it's kinda important that immigrants be able to integrate /morig/ somewhat smoothly (aka have a genetic code close enough for reproduction to be possible), because the general is fiercely pro-unity. This was kinda at odds with the lore describing our appearance, so this is the compromise I came up with.
I love this bird thought. Messenger birds are heavily used by the /morig/ navy, and I was unsure on their source, I was thinking they might be a species from the continent that deadbeats just domesticated, but migratory birds finding a way to excrete excessive amounts of chuubanite (kinda similar to Galapagos' marine iguanas excreting excessive salt) is just *chef's kiss*. I'll have to work that in.

depending on how it works, and maybe even how chuubanite works, it might not require a very sophisticated process, but you can regulate it by giving it a sophisticated process.

>> No.23878579

>>23878291
Yeah, if I end up using this I'll probably do something that requires really convoluted biochemistry, this way you can't do it just by chewing cactus leaves or something. Mori chuubanite tends to migrate towards hard things (like bones), so I'm thinking those birds might crystallize diamond-like kidney stones intentionally where all the chuubanite gets concentrated, and then they have to pass those somehow. You can be damn sure no human being would consider trying to do this intentionally. Well, unless you're a /meat/head that is really into bloody sounding.

Glad you liked the bird idea as well, it was the first thing that popped into my mind when I read the sloth entry, super excited what you do with it!

>>23878291
Well, unless we have a doctor or someone with plenty of knowledge on the matter of chemicals in the body here, we can't really go too sophisticated. We can present some solutions, but at least for my part, they would hardly be anything more than: it's got an organ that helps it overcome any bad things that the chuubanite might give it.

>> No.23879086

>>23878579
Hmm, what about instead of kidney stones, their kidneys were evolved enough to process it through just like any other toxin, resulting in a really chuubanite packed urine? That could also create "chuubanite hotspots" where flocks of those birds nested, with all the chuubanite seeping into the surrounding land. Could also have a plant species that preferred high contents of it, evolving fruits and seeds specifically for those birds to cosume and disperse.

>> No.23879503

>>23879086
From a biochemical viewpoint, this is the same process; IRL kidney stones are caused by the kidneys doing their job of concentrating minerals out of water a little too well. That plant species idea is great, perhaps that plant could have evolved a chuubanite filtering mechanism in symbiosis with the birds? To be able to produce fruits with reduced Mori chuubanite levels, this way the birds consuming those fruits would put their kidneys under less strain.

Alright, collab's over. Let's see.

We are no warmongers despite what anyone might think, and we have found peaceful solutions to any diplomatic issues between us and any other state or nation. We are not going to manifest destiny any time soon. Currently the Republic has a focus on economic growth and thus we are interested in fostering healthy relationships with all our neighbours. I know the Druids have very little to buy from us apart from some tools they might need, so we only ask them for the free transit of our merchants through, any deals about lumber can be done later once /uuu/ has clearly defined the state of what they are willing to sell away.
Of course, we know that the druids are diplomatically isolated from other nations due to their disorganized nature, thus, they ought to be the ones that initiate any potential initiave they might wish for, still, we ask for potential cooperation and further development of diplomatic relationships between the villages of the Druids and the Republic.
Again, I'll stress that the Republic has not gone to war with any other sovereign state despite the diplomatic issues encountered with others, and we have solved them by diplomacy. This will not be any different.

As for the separation process, It's probably gonna be very similar to how human body gets rid of toxins, with the heat sacs basically acting as a Chuubanite specific kidney. Once all the nutrients along with Chuubanite get absorbed into the bloodstream, it passes through the heat sack, where all the chuubanite gets filtered out. As for the excretion of depleted Chuubanite, I was thinking of making it drip from the mouth of the tortoise, slowly, over the years forming a mineral "beard" of sorts, with older members generally having longer beards.

Does anyone have the most up to date nasfaqg language document and does a language document for /meat/ exist? If yes, I would like to read them.

Offering a prompt to anyone, and a question I'd like to know the answer to:
Does your thread's nation have any naming conventions? What are people named, and why? Do names have meaning? Do people have surnames, and how are those derived?

E.g., In some cultures the surname is derived from a profession, ("Smith", "Kowalski"), some derive surnames from the parents, ("Andersen", "Svensdottir"), and some from nature ("Koivula", "Mori"). Ofc, many cultures use a mixture of these, but some are definitely more common than others.

If you dont have an in-universe lore idea yet or arent interested in creating one, then what real world culture would be the closest equivalent for names?

I would be especially interested to hear the answers to this from /risu/, /meat/, /morig/,and /ggg/, but I'd be happy to also know them for any other thread.

/meat/'s alphabet is archived, but I don't think we ever work on many of the other stuff, since we don't really have the right kind of autism for that it seems.
The only thing established is that /meat/ has multiple languages:
>Nahuatl is the clerical "proper" language
>Norse was the old language of the natives from before the arrival of the cultists
>Intermingling of the two people results in the birth of a creole with Norse substrate and Nahuatl superstrate
>In the creole, the mundane base words are usually Norse in origin, but affixes tend to be Nahuatl, although religious words tend to still be fully Nahuatl
As for surnames, personally I don't think it would be common in /meat/, since inheritance does not seem a major thing in /meat/ society (it's a theocracy after all, even though the priesthood isn't barred from marriage and reproduction). I imagine it might be similar to Norse in that surnames are basically just parent name+offspring affix, which basically changes every generation. People with unremarkable parentage might drop that part entirely.
That said, I imagine that /meat/ likely has something like Roman Cognomen or Chinese courtesy name, in that people who get inducted into the cult or otherwise made their name get a (Nahuatl) nickname that is used for most non-intimate social interaction.

It kind of ended up being much longer than it probably should, but here it goes:

The Risuners were adept tree-climbers, and in a sense, this foreign land was surprisingly accommodating for them. While the weather was somewhat hotter and wetter than in their homeland, the lush green trees provided ample shades for them, and the pleasant scent of wood and flowers might help ease their mind somewhat. Like in their homeland, the canopy was home to much local fauna and flora, although fortunately most of them seemed harmless enough. In particular, dog-sized rodents appeared to inhabit the thicker tree branches when they were not hiding in ground burrows. They proved to be quite docile, and their fur was soft and warm to the touch.

The pleasant interaction with the exotic wildfire would not last, however, as the Risuners' ship proved to be less stealthy than its operators. Upon being discovered, those who stayed behind on the ship quickly made their escape to the dense forest, alongside the majority of their supplies. Soon after the ship was abandoned, it was docked by another, somewhat larger ship. The serpent-like symbols on the reinforced sails showed their origin, soon reaffirmed by the leather-clad and axe-wielding boarders who began inspecting the deserted vessel. They did not appear to be hostile, although that might just be because no one was on board.

As the twilight painted the landscape into a crimson befitting the reputation of this land, the Risuners found a road piercing through the otherwise untouched forest. A path was cleared through the wooded area, its ground elevated and paved with something pastel white - the same construction method used by the /meat/heads who helped with the construction of the road traversing through /risu/. Parallel grooves were carved into the otherwise smooth surface, which combined with the lack of significant traffic meant the road was likely built long ago. with the grooves dug with every passing of carts and wagons.

Indeed, as the Risuners held their breath in the darkening forest, they could hear the sound of claws clopping against the plastered road. It was soon followed by the slow turn of wheels, clanking of pottery and, of course, footsteps. The steps were unhurried and discrete. If they belonged to the army, they were at least not on as high an alert as the Risuners, it seemed. From what some of the more experienced Risuners could tell, their number was smaller than them - perhaps a bit more than a dozen. That said, if they were indeed the fearsome raiders from the stories, they might not need numbers to defeat them should they choose so.

Before they entered the Risuners' view, though, the leading Risuner spotted someone - or something - looking at her and the rest of the crew. Buried inside the canopy on the other side of the road was a pair of eyes, staring at her. Hidden beneath the shadow, she could nonetheless see the faint blue glow emanating from them. Although similar to the nocturnal animals living in their homeland, the size and characteristics of the eyes clearly showed them to be human-like in nature.

How long had it been watching them? Regardless, there was no doubt that they were already discovered. "Show yourself." Diana commanded instinctively in her own language. Just as she was to repeat it in the common language that the locals would understand, though, she was met with a response.

>> No.23894096

>>23894026
"Alright!" With that, the humanoid silhouette leapt from the canopy and into the red sunlight. As expected from a /meat/head, the spying one was clad in painted leather armour covering weaved clothes. The tanned face and arms were marked by dark blue tattooed in intricate patterns. What was perhaps not expected, though, was the pair of small rodent ears poking out from the brown hair, as well as the bushy tail waggling from the rear.

The surprise did not end here, either. As the thin tail moved in strange patterns, the body that was falling onto the road suddenly propelled itself towards the Risuners in a seemingly magical manner. The unusual and quick movement meant the Risuners barely have time to dodge before the strange being soared into their canopy. The gloved hands extended upward, catching the branch above Diana, braking the launch before the tattooed one landed next to Diana, the tail turning to balance the weight. There was no doubt that this was another Risuner... one who looked just like another /meat/head.

"I was curious what you would do when they come, but oh well." The /meat/ Risuner looked and sounded rather androgynous, perhaps partly because of some of the tattoos resembling makeup, as well as a seemingly young, almost adolescent appearance. Although seemingly fluent in the language of the Risuners, it had a noticeable accent, with a few foreign words mixed in. "I'm Itstosan. I'm told they found some Risuners in the wood, so I-"

The introduction was interrupted by the sound of the convoy stopping. On the road near the Risuners, a cattle-sized rodent was pulling a wagon behind it. The wooden carriage was loaded with some large, sealed clay pots, as well as a few more /meat/heads taking their rest while other /meat/heads were walking along. In total, they added up to about 20 individuals. Similarly light in armour, they were nonetheless armed with axes of different kinds, and a few shields could be seen stockpiled on the cart. Still, they did not appear to be hostile or even very guarded, with their attention focusing more on Itstosan. The majority of them were male, although the Risuners could still see a few females in the mix.

"I apologise for any inconvenience." One of them was more well-dressed, although also unarmoured, than the others, who appeared to speak for the rest of the group as she addressed the Risuners in the common tongue. "My name is Tecpashochitl. We're here to welcome you as guests to our land. Would you like to join us to your accommodations? We also have food and drinks if any of you need them."

I just need to manage more time in my day to writing this scene so that it is not rushed. Which means I will have to make sure the scene has a word limit. And I have to involve the meat priestess some how. The only other criticism I would have is the ancient ones would have nothing to do with the Grand Directive as they are Lovecraftian horrors beyond our comprehension. The Grand Directive is a man-made construct based on the Prime Directive in Star Trek. What I want to do is have a cult like political party take the Grand Directive way too far that nearly destroyed the space economy and committed genocide on races that mingled with Sanalites. This party is even known to self-destruct ships and stations stranded on a planet if repairs cannot be done without altering the environment and interacting with people. While Jonathan is on "the right side of history" the people he's currently working for, the council, is a literal death cult. Also I think Alex would have information on these people for a while. The government keeps stripping Alex of more and more power until he's replaced. Once replaced the death cult will vote in one of their members and give them absolute control over the station. Forcing everyone into a military police state where they cannot leave the station nor speak out against the government. Once the dissidents have been silenced and everyone is distracted, kaboom. No more station.

Wait, crap, I thought they returned to the forest to regroup with the ship risuners after they fled into the forest.
The forest kind of goes better with Itstosan's introduction, but if you prefer them to meet on the altar, that's fine too. Tell me if you have a particular preference, or if I should add more about what they saw on the shrine when they were there.

Oh. well thats a bit awkward. Yeah my idea was they retreat further inland and abandon the boat altogether for safety in numbers. Personally I think Itstosan would be better as a background character who was watching them the entire time and notified the welcoming party with details of numbers and such. REEEEEEEEEEEEE i feel like a dick asking people to re write stuff though especially since its your land.

>Diana shows up
>splits crew in half to explore inland
>finds some shrine
>nopes the fuck out at night when she sees lots of torches near the bay.
>day 2 arrives
>in the afternoon pinisi is finally found
>ship crew abandon ship and run with whatever the fuck they can carry all the way to the shrine
>the entire risuner band just sitting at the altar waiting for those "torch people"

But yeah include Itstosan at any point since I assume he knew what we were doing the whole time. Again feelsbad but I feel like it would actualy make more sense for /meat/ to wait at least a day just to read risuner movement patterns for intel gathering.

Well then, a few more comments on at least how I wanted to take things:

1. Meat priestess at the current point in time is sleeping on the top bunk of the bed, next to which Alex, Mac and Charlie are talking. Personally I just wanted to introduce her into the chapter by her waking up, scaring the everlasting shit out of Charlie by dropping down on the floor, and just mumbling about food while walking out of the room. Alex would then introduce her, with maybe a snarky remark from Mac ("robosan ain't enough for you, huh?" or something), since the idea of the possible cult would come at the end of the convo, when the duo was already preparing to head out, she would have very little lines, as she would just appear to explain what she knows about the tattoos some of the guards she killed had.

2. As for the cult itself, I wanted to spin them as just crazy people that believe Sana is not to be worshipped as a goddess, as she is only a herald of the true gods. And while there was pretty major war with them in the past (only 14 planets were lost, so not a world war by the book definition) they are pretty diminished in power nowadays, prefering to stay in shadows. What info Alex would have would mainly be from general knowledge, and his father, which was a fleet Principal of an armed fleet that fought for one of the planets.
That being said, I also really like your take on it, with them being a literal death cult. In the end, even if you decide to cut them if you can't fit them in, it's all good. They have been based on a single lore entry for Sana anyway, one that she hasn't really expanded or even aknowledged except in passing in like months. And a pretty big spoiler for season two, if they are included and steal the big rock of Chuubanite: they team up with schizos in trying to summon an ancient one to this plane, but royally fuck up

3. You really shouldn't worry about what will happen once the confrontation between Mac and Jonathan happens at the station. The original plan was for this chapter to end when Mac and Charlie depart back for the station (preferably alone or with a very small group, not with an armed force, as they still need all the people they can get in the hideout to keep a net extended for tech smugglers). So it's perfectly fine if you end the chapter at that part, and then we can brainstorm ideas to quickly push out another chapter. That way people that don't wanna read entire books at once have two smaller chapters to chew through instead of one huge one.

Very nice! Tortoises with herding behavior is a neat concept, herbivorous dinosaurs probably did something similar. I'm imagining that their beard helps with dew collection, beards tend to do that. I like the attention given to child mortality, IRL turtles are left to figure this shit out on their own and have like a 0.1% survival rate, so staying in a group and getting a survival rate of 20% is pretty huge.

Yea, while the base animal I took inspiration from was the Galapagos tortoise, It's behaviour was more akin to that of herd mammals, most notably the mating-year-giant-herd thing was a direct yoink from african buffalo herds in rainy season. And I wanted to pay some attention to their early hatchling stage, since as herbivores, they would be a target all the time, specially when they have young. Gonna be completely honest, 20% still seems a bit high to me, but that's probabably only because I haven't put any numbers on their actual mortality I say that they can reach 100+ years, but in reality, that's like a 1/10k specimen, since they do have a few predators that prey on adults even.

Was planning on writing about the army but after some Drachinifel videos and rewatching Master and commander I decided to write a """short""" novel on /who/'s navy. This is really the first time I'm writing a novel so if you find any problems with my writing please let me knowI'm probably too verbose . Also disclaimer, I'm not that knowledgable about age of sail naval combat(or sailing in general for that matter).

I know Minerva is a cliched name for warships but the connection with owls is just too good and obvious to drop.

The /meat/heads the Minvera and Doru are fighting are not official /meat/ raiders.
I haven't really engaged with the /meat/heads itt that much but in-universe, because /who/ can't survive without caffeine and /meat/ might like some of the goods we make(like leather and textiles) they probably have some sort of trade deal with /who/. So merchantmen bearing the Republic's flag would have official immunity in the waters /meat/ operate in(depends on whether if /meat/ can even enforce it). An in the story, it's the latter

We're open to exporting to /who/ if you want, though!

>>23903841
Ah, I forgot about the oars, silly me. The general flow of the engagement would still work but I would have to add it later.
Also slight spoilers I guess:
Here I want to have the raiders be a sort of rouge faction of ex-Leidangr and Ferd. Because /meat/ now has signed a number of treaties with the nations in the South Holo sea, there are fewer and fewer slaves coming in. Because their jobs as raiders are also threatened, some of the more zealous /meat/heads among the more experienced raiders had enough and founded a small pirate state on an island near /meat/. They are very into the cycle of life and death stuff as many of them were semi-professional warriors. They practice a more gruesome form of human sacrifice and the rest of their slaves are sold to the black markets in /hfz/ or made to row oars until they die. Now because it also coincided with a particularly bad Janny raid /meat/ can't guarantee the safety of the western part of the Holo sea, where said rogue faction operates. And this is where the ships in the story comes in.
Does it make sense? Or should I change something?

Yeah, we get coffee from Anya-Petra, we have no official deals with /meat/, but their merchants could come by to the free port and buy things, althought, due to the nature of their state they'd probably be under vigilance. The impression I got from /meat/'s lore page is that the sacrifices are relatively painless, the goal is to kill the sacrifice. Hmm... that's odd.
Tenet-wise, the rituals are intended to cause as much suffering before killing them, as well as make use of as much of the body as possible. /meat/ is pretty methodical about it, though, so it knows and uses a lot of medicines to keep the victim conscious as long as possible, which could include some degree of anaesthesia, if only to keep the pain below the threshold of passing out. Jury's still out on whether emotional suffering count.
One thing the priesthood - regardless of stance on reformation - will have beef with (heh) is them being sloppy about it, though. They'll definitely get blasted for spilling the blood and gore everywhere instead of collecting them for more efficient use.
