What is /asp/?

A thread for aspiring vtubers! Whether your goal is to make the journey as an independent streamer or to gain experience and build a portfolio for agency auditions. Let's help each other grow and make it. Indies are welcome to selfpost, but shill responsibly. Share your knowledge, insights, feedback, discuss what has worked and what hasn't worked for you. And always remember to do your research before posting personally identifying information. That includes both in this thread and in your audition applications to agencies.

The general rule of thumb is Twitch if your content is primarily based on livestreaming and YouTube if your content is primarily pre-recorded and edited.

>Do you think there's an audience for X, Y, Z content?
First, ask yourself if you would watch a streamer of your skill and experience. Second, do a check on social media and look to see if other streamers are already creating similar content. Don't limit yourself to vtubers, include traditional real life streamers to scope out a potential audience.

Does anyone know how long it takes to build up a voice from being effectively mute for 2 years and 3 months?

I'm doing daily exercises and I've got vocalizing a note up to 5-10 seconds but my voice still sounds pretty flat and forced. I'm really tired after 30 minutes. I want to get to a point where I can casually talk to chat for 5 hours or so with a consistent pronunciation instead of garbling words.

Other than the rabbit designs and the expressions, the characters all share some themes. They're all shown as older or more mature than another character. Yuuko to Watanuki, Koko to Jonah, Maetel to Tetsuro, Yukari to Takao. The clothing style will be more formal like suits, shirts with ties, the visual personality is calm/stoic but I don't mind switching to a silly expression. The art style is more serious but relaxed, long limbs, straight white hair, long eye lashes, not chibi or kawaii. More like Yuuko and Maetel but with white hair and dressed like Koko, but as a rabbit. Other related themes would probably be classroom, library, archive, book shop, or something of that nature. Sorry that I didn't make it clear enough, it made sense in my mind.

What I did was separate the character into parts like I mentioned and found a few that represented each part. My artist did great with it imo and it's basically spot on to what I envisioned. I'm really just throwing around ideas and it's not like I intend to portray any of the characters. It's just certain qualities I appreciate in each of them. Reserved and serious but with potential for playfulness is a general mood I'm inclined towards. I don't think any character really represents it all so I'm casting a wider net. I wanted a style that was overall more classic like CLAMP or Leiji Matsumoto instead of moe. The dress style for Koko and Reisen is more what I'm interested in, but the vibes and poses of Yuuko and a lesser extent Maetel. The other expressions are a few ideas for a wider range of expressions so there is actually more range than just being stoic for 5 hours straight.

I feel like people here don't give this enough importance. I sincerely believe your voice is the most important feature when it comes to streaming. Yes there's many successful streamers that have really annoying voices that are just "fine", but if you have a pure sex voice you can easily use that as your only buff and make it. Afterall most of the time people will just listen to you, especially if you just play games or whatever and nothing interesting is happening on the screen. Been contemplating getting in to this but I'm just about certain that I'm not a good fit for it.
Mostly comes down to wanting to make friends rather than feeling like some fly on the wall or a third wheel.

I'm drawn towards people that exude passion and feel - if going in to the stream format - I might not get that in a standard audience without one of those chat command prompt games (marbles, chat battle sims, etc) running in the back. Just not confident talking to a screen.
The ideal thing I should do relating to this is working alongside or in the back of another - and I figure I'd have to build up a portfolio for that first. I just hate the thought of making things as demos that serve as just demos and go unused.

Most of the time it won't. The key point of that video is that somebody made a targeted video to spam at a specific streamer.

If you are creating original content featuring yourself, i.e. not spamming memes, creating videos about people with existing audiences, etc. Unless it is EXCEPTIONAL which 99% of people wont be it will not be noticed unless you get extremely lucky.

I have talked to many bigger vtubers from the early days and many of them inclined heavily from a random clip on twitter that they have no idea why was popular. So when people say "just make good content" without any specifics they are full of shit.
