Even if it were intentional, while that's an interesting tactic, doesn't the fact that it carried across multiple streams and she still ended up locking on in the end mean that in the end it didn't work and she gave into the chat's demands? So I'm not sure being passive aggressive is a good idea, chat is full of really dumb people who will never get the hint. Either have your mods ban them or actually say something about it so that people in chat will start defending you from the backseaters and you don't have to do anything.

There's really no elegant solution. Nobody will ever be able to completely stop backseating without extreme measures like absurdly strict moderating, turning chat off, etc. It's unfortunate but it's the reality of streaming, doubly so when you're garbage at gaming (like so many of them are). I think Ina handles it okay by setting chat to subscribers-only with time requirements, but even then, it only helps a little.

I find that my worry about being too old for VTubing is alleviated by watching VTubers who are in their 30s. I find them easier to relate to since they're my age.
