She has actually been pretty unremarkable considering her position at the top. She isn't nearly as innovative or revolutionary in the vtubing space as her predecessors and hasn't ever really stepped out of her comfort zone to bring something new or interesting. She's a good entertainer obviously and has her charm but in terms of bringing a "bigger impact" she has done nothing noteworthy.

What Mito brought to the table was the popularity of cheap ass Live2D instead of the cutting-edge 3D that was the standard before her. The format she brought to the table also ruined vtubing. Before her the popular style were short form skits in which the vtuber had to showcase their creativity in a short amount of time to entertain the audience. Mito popularized being a lazy ass playing videogames for hours. Why bother scripting actual content when you can just sit on your ass and play videogames for hours to get popular?

Mito ruined vtubing and we will never go back to the glory days of content that existed before her.

Her whole reason for being impactful is having big subscriber counts but if you look as to why that is there's really not much in her content that stands out as inspiring or innovative. I think she would still be in the top spots in hololive under normal circumstances but having almost double the subs as the second place in your company doesn't exactly seems justified when looking at her content.

I know this thread is an excuse to shit on Gura but consider that she is the top vtuber in the west for almost 2 years and has stayed out of drama/trouble for that entire time.
The western vtubing/ streaming scene, which many vtubers are actively trying to make them one and the same, lives and thrives on drama. Mori and Kiara with Gura by their side could have easily pushed for collabs with otv, sykkuno, Forsen, xqc, Critikal etc. (imagine the numbers) and opened the floodgates to the western streaming side from the start. Instead you got the girl at the top that dislikes her numbers, keeps her nose out of trouble, plays her entertainer role so well that many people that dislike lolis can’t help but like her, and most importantly preserved the spirit of Hololive in the west.
