I'm not sure I completely get the logic. Why would people assume Vshojo was doing this to protect their public image? People buying Vshojo.org and trying to scam others wouldn't harm their public image in any way if they just made a post saying "hey, there are currently scammers using Vshojo.org blablabla." Basically Nux almost got catfished but he saw it a mile away. He then found out from someone else who had been catfished and doxxed by this criminal, that they were using a fake vshojo website to do it.
Nux tells Vshojo management who take action.
Nux also helps out with the girl who was doxxed by putting her in touch with people.
Nux then says that he wants to tell people who are auditioning to be aware about scammers and catfishers out there using this as an example.
Vshojo don't like it because they feel that it will not look good on the company but they let him proceed anyway.
He makes a video about it.
Now here's where it gets messy.
Many of the vshojo girls had apparently been targeted by this specific catfisher for months now. MONTHS. Who had been spoofing quite a few websites etc.
Nyanners who had been victim to several 4chan raids when she was on /v/ has a sudden panic attack because she thinks Nux is going to provoke the scammer and indeed that the video is going to cause more doxxers scammers etc to target her.
She doesn't tell Nux this though and by this time the video is already up.
Nyanners goes nuts. Full psychotic. She is losing it. Absolute panic sets in. The girls seeing how panicked and mentally upset she is automatically assume she is in the right and Nux has done this because he doesn't care about vshojo etc.
Turns out it was all in Nyanners head. The doxxer/scammer didn't get worse at all and was basically forced off the internet.
Meanwhile Nux managed to warn a lot of people who were auditioning to be careful, double check who is emailing them and even got Vshojo to update their audition policy so that it was easier to see who they were.
Mel wasn't involved at all. She was present in one meeting and apparently agreed with the security guy that it was Nux's right to make a video about it as he had been targeted but that it wouldn't look good for vshojo.
Vshojo trying to protect their talent doubled down behind nyanners until it turned out she was being motivated by intense panic attacks and then tucked this under the carpet while all the talents apologized to nux in private.

That's how it works for scams yes. Not for something as serious as swatting. A scammer will do what they can to get your info, and once they have it they're done with you and move on. A swatter is usually fucked in the head and it's just one instant of a long line of harassment that needs to be dealt with in a more definitive way. Notifying the public of a scammer will be enough to stop them. Notifying the public of a swatter will either embolden them to do more crazy shit, or make them lie low for a bit before returning to what they had been doing beforehand with zero consequences.
