Yeah. Kuzuha is the only niji liver who got a gold button.

Meanwhile hololive had 27 girls who got a gold button and passed 1 million subs.

That's a question that even most longtime Niji fans ask themselves.

Pumping out too many talents in a short time frame really did hurt these livers' ability to stand out. The crowd just keeps getting bigger and bigger and many of them struggle to just break more than 500K subs.

The ones that did reach 500K are mostly just JP talents along with two EN talents (Vox Akuma & Mysta Rias). So at least Niji's JP branch managed to produce a couple of moderately successful vtubers. The EN branch hasn't had much success outside of their Luxiem generation, but at least none of the EN members are below 100K subs. However, the ID and KR members tend to have the worst numbers, with many ID/KR livers failing to crack even 100K.

So many forgettable members and yet, they keep adding more every year.

>> No.23226083

>>23225625
It depends on what you call "hurting" the liver tho.
My oshi is someone in JP under the 500k line despite having debuted a few years ago. And while obviously they are no making banks, it was enough for them to do this full time, move to a new apartment, buy nice equiptment and plenty of anime figures, and by all signs living comfortably and happier than they'd ever have been in a normie job.

Is it better to have a hand full of talents that make minor movie star level of money, or a lot of talent that lives comfortably doing something they enjoy?

Sucks for the ID/KR ones tho, that I agree completely.

>> No.23226760

>>23226083
The problem with ID and KR is that those branches were largely disconnected from the main branch. Livers there don't even get much of a signal boost on debut. For them the only benefit over being indies is that they didn't have to shell out the initial investment of getting a model, but they pay for that in getting all their income halved. It remains to be seen whether the merge would help them or if it's too late.

>> No.23227477

>>23213354
>almost all of the low subs are ID and KR

and no, merging them together into main branch will only make their hurdles go up.

All Luxiem will be 500k+ in the next few months but only Vox has a shot reaching 1m any time soon. Even then, I expect his subs will start to drag as he hits 700-800k in a couple weeks. Still I think a gold play button this year though.

>> No.23228845

>>23226083
Honestly, I think quality is more important than quantity.

As I was I making this list, I did watch a video on every liver's channel just to see what they sounded like.
Sure, there were some lesser known livers that caught my interest. But a trend I noticed was that many of these Live2D models had very shoddy rigging. Nijisanji will give their popular livers like Kuzuha the better rigs, but if you're on the lower end of the Niji popularity spectrum, the model you get tends to be more twitchy and poorly rigged.

This is why I think quality is more important. It's better for a company to focus on fewer talents and really polish up their models. Because when you have way too many talents to provide models for, it's unrealistic to expect all of them will get decent or up-to-date rigs. You start cutting corners and doing a halfassed job.

Personally, I think rigging and model is one of the least important thing for a vtuber.

Sure, Kuzuha has some godly models, but the one he uses most often is honestly pretty bad. Meanwhile Shibuya Hajime has some nice models and no one watch his shit anyway.
Even looking at the new EN boys, Vox has the stiffest rigging in his gen, while Fulgur and Yugo are miles ahead of the yellow and purple guys and look where it got them.
Even on Holo's side, I love Irys, but honestly I'd enjoy it more if she were a pngtuber.
And let's be honest, if rigging is the main thing, indies and small corpo would have topped every chart.

Personally I prefer the scatter shot model more, I perhaps it's me being an oldfag with weird taste, I usually find myself enjoying people in the lower middle range in terms of numbers, and cannot stand watching the hugely successfuly ones even if I repect them as a streamer. So a company that min-max too much is less likely to offer someone I enjoy.

>> No.23229947

Is Kuzuha el Pewdiepie de los Nijisanjis

>> No.23230554

>>23228845
Like the other anon said, Nijisanji gives their livers brush-up regardless of numbers, so a lot of the lower ones have pretty good rigging too.

Often time the twitchy thing has more to do with the lighting and camera angle, people lower on the list are often part-time streamer (whether a cause or effect of their numbers I cannot say) and do not have proper lighting / distance / angle to their iphone camera in front of their PC - hell, Noraneko is famous for having a PC that can barely stream. You can see the difference when they stream from the company studio some times..

And I don't see what does any of that have to do with stream quality anyway, if I just wanted pretty 2D character I'd play video games. As long as the rigging is good enough to give me some indication of facial expression I'm happy. The rest is just up to the streamer's wit, sense of humour and content.

I wouldn't downplay something that viewers will be seeing 100% of the time onscreen. Whether or not you think it's very important, a mediocre rigged model is still a noticeable debuff regardless.

You're right that some vtubers can be entertaining enough to still succeed despite whatever debuffs they were dealt with. But I think everyone will agree that a good rig is more beneficial than having to deal with a twitchy, flawed one.

Gibara had a bit over 500K when she graduated.

Although they have comparatively less subs overall, a good number of livers get great live numbers, like Ratna, Naraka, Furen (I'm not gonna even mention those on the upper end of the spectrum) etc. and straight out outperform their Holo counterparts. Just yesterday, Matsuri had a collab with Fubuki, yet the number live viewers of was similar to a mid-sized Niji liver.
I'm happy they are all prospering tho.

This. I don't understand people's obsession with numbers outside of /#/.
Most of these people are making more than they'd have in a regular job (unless they have some professional qualification), of course more is always better but it's not like they are suffering - if they were they'd not have renewed their contract.
So unless you work in those corpo and depend on their revenue to pay your salary, or you oshi is someone who is struggling with numbers (in which case, good luck), who cares.
