Technically, in order to be classified as mentally ill, it has to really be fucking up your life i.e. can't get a job or can't function enough to take care of yourself. If you're confident you build a career in media being audience facing with your real identity, which was (until very recently when vtubing popped off) a much more dependable way to do it.

Vtubers are a self selecting bunch of people who paradoxically have things to say but have some reason they don't want to just be a "normal" camera streamer or other content creator. This is what tends to make them novel more than some 2d or 3d sprites that wouldn't hold your interest for hours of content, however novel.
