Two questions for everyone :
1.What did you use to do or watch before vtubers?
>I've noticed that most of you follow these girls religiously,
2.Were you like this in your previous obsessions as well?

Op here
1. I used to surf YouTube videos, documentaries but I never used to watch streamers
2. Ever since finding Gura(never watched her previous persona when she streamed apart from the meme songs )
I've changed a bit I guess ,always checking if she'll stream, waiting to hear her voice and giggling

I watched "regular" (if you will) streamers and Youtubers, until I jumped on the HoloEN wave back in 2020. Now, apart from a few notable exceptions, most of the content creators I watch are VTubers. Also, whilst I wouldn't call it an obsession, I did have my favourite creators back then, much like I have my favourite Vtubers now.

anime but anime characters dont need an amazing plot to be interesting. They do need other things but lots of crappy anime infused with funny and interesting and shitty jap culture. Lots of shitty shitty jap bullshit. Loud music to make up for it during "emotional" scenes.

1. I find that the main thing vtubers replaced for me is TV and seasonal anime. I don't watch any new shows anymore, honestly I couldn't name a single show or anime that started airing in 2022 or even 2021. But I still do my other hobbies, read books, watch the occasional film, build stuff. Before Hololive I never watched streamers period.
2. I have never followed any content creator as closely as I have my oshi (Gura). I don't miss a stream if I can help it, and catch the VOD if I didn't see it live. I've never been like that for any other youtuber or whatever.

I don't think anything really changed when I started watching vtubers.
I basically just split up my time watcher other streamers with vtubers as well.
I don't watch that many vtubers anyway, so it's not like they take up all that much of my time. I'm also not adverse to not watching if they're like playing a game I don't really care about and stuff.

1. anime, I stopped watching it completely in September 2020, 6 months after discovering chuubas

2. No, I wasn't as paranoid as I'm now when somebody wanted to use my PC/Phone

I used to be Dragon Ball autist, found out everyone in the community are underage tribalfag stinky latinx + trannies.
I'm so glad I found VTubers, good thing there will never be HoloES

Gaming, going out to eat and stuff. Chuubas actually worsened my life at some point, I would watch indies+holo a lot and make up excuses to my friends if my oshi was streaming, never again, I only stick to my Holo oshi and if my friends want to do some shit we do it, it's better to laugh and have fun with your mates than watching someone have fun with theirs.

Anime stuff, mechanical vidoes like AvE and Wintergatan, and some musicians.
I actually did not bother with watching livestreams outside of certain events until I got into vtubers.
I used to be a higher end WoW player (i know....) and I was def obsessed with running numbers and shit. These days I only really play deeprock or vermintide and I don't bother with any extracurricular activities for those like I did with WoW, and vtubers fill in that time.

1) Would watch people like AdmiralBulldog and PrincessRaeyei of Dota 2 fame, played Dota 2 and Planetside 2 pretty heavily, and did Classic Vanilla WoW with a top raiding guild
2) Never really obsessed about anyone or anything beyond the standard "I hope they're okay" shit

I watched tons of anime but stopped going to /a/ around 2017/2018. I also watched Internet Historian, airsoft youtubers and competitive AOE2 (mainly a caster named T90, because the people playing had tons of dead air).
I wouldn't say I follow them religiously, I changed oshis a couple of times already, either because of stagnation or graduation.

>1.What did you use to do or watch before vtubers?
I played League of Legends and watched League's esport
>2.Were you like this in your previous obsessions as well?
I travelled to watch esport live. I watched regular season matches and listen to podcasts that discuss about it. I spent more time on watching esport content than playing the game (I played like 3 matches per week)
After Gura's debut I dropped League completely and watch esport only if it is the final match.

>What did you use to do or watch before vtubers?
Mostly anime and random youtube videos.
>Were you like this in your previous obsessions as well?
I don't follow any of them religiously and I don't have an oshi. In general, I just watch streams where they play games I like.

1) mostly anime and YouTube videos. Did occasionally do tl work but that's more of a side project than a hobby
2) usually only during the first few months, the fact that it's lasted for almost two years now Is pretty remarkable now that I think about it
