So, does anyone /here/ enjoy vtubers as a form of general entertainment, without the toxic and very cringe parasocial relationship shit that seems to pervade the genre?
Picrel is obviously the most extreme example but a lot of viewers talk about oshiis and such, and evidently treat the talents like more than the forms of lightweight entertainment that they are.
Are you a cringe parasocial relationship enjoyed, anon?

Most people just see it as casual entertainment, the parasocial shit is the minority though heavily concentrated here.

I'm an Indon, most YouTubers here are shit. VTubers is a preferable alternative, and I find some Indonesian indies cool.

>Are you a cringe parasocial relationship enjoyed, anon?
Nope. I like my oshi and I want her to keep succeeding and growing, but I see no point in getting emotionally attached to a woman I will never meet who larps as an anime girl. She is and always will be just entertainment to me. It just feels like the most reasonable and logical way to view her and vtubers in general because in the end that's what they are.
I'd rather have this mindset than be like your picrel's fans...they're among some of the most mentally ill, unhinged and deranged I've ever seen, even by the standards of this shithole.

I have no problem with gachikois and parasocial fans as long as they understand the terms of conditions that comes with being one.

As long as they aren't fucking annoying weirdos about it and keep themselves contained, it's pretty harmless honestly.

watching streams is the closest thing that i have to social interaction. i am dependent on my oshi and i hope that she has fun with her friends because i experience friendship vicariously through her.

You have a point. I think a good lot of them though are just a bunch of depressed lonely dudes with a lotta money to spare. Immersing themselves in that fantasy is certainly better than them just giving up on finding happiness in life and necking themselves. But some still do take it too far and just end up as disturbing creepos.

I'm kinda unfit for any sort of relationship and therefore don't pursue them at the moment.
This sort of stuff isn't content for me.
Luckily Vtubers are like icecream and they exist in every flavor.

Parasocial relationships don't always have to be bad per say, you can be in love with your oshi without being a complete fucking schizo but that's probably impossible for many people on here

GFE doesn't have to be an all-in thing, my dear schizos.
I live in a country with legal prostitution. I regularly spend an hour feeling nice and then leave and move on with my life.

Listen to the anime girl say "I love you" for the dopamine hit and that's it.

Streaming is inherently parasocial. Also I read some analysis that went over how many adults formed parasocial bands with TV characters, and most of them did. We are all broken.

I'm in a bit of a weird middle ground. I'm not in love with my oshi although I do find them attractive at times. I am attached to them, but not a romantic kind of attachment. I'm attached like my favorite sports team. I'm rooting for them every step of the way and I'm very emotionally invested in their success. I'm not schizo or possessive about them. The porn is good though so I won't say I never nutted to my oshi.

real women will hurt you too. And then you;ll end up hating yourself over that anyway. Not an excuse not to try, but dont start thinking 3d women will somehow make you happy. Happiness doesnt come from relationships, it comes from frivolous spending on hobbies
