In general, she had problems with stuff that was not explained/demonstrated properly to her. The Emancipator Field had a rough explanation at the very beginning of the game when it didn't matter. Similarly, she lucked into the advanced momentum cannon technique where you launch yourself twice so she never really understood what she did for it to work.

She could quickly wrap her head around the field disintegrating matter or stopping her from shooting portals - but that it erases portals just made no sense to her.
Which is honestly kinda fair. The portal is sitting on a wall, how is it disappearing when she is walking through a field somewhere completely different? My window does not allow me to throw things outside of my room which is logical, that's how glass works. But touching it does not cause my door to suddenly disappear.
Aside from the well explained portals themself it is probably the most gamey concept of Portal 1 and Kiara always has trouble with these things while someone who has been playing many games since their childhood like us just shrugs and accepts them.

Kiara's understanding or lack thereof of game logic & legibility always keeps me amused. It's probably why I'm never quite bothered by her gameplay.
Kiara isn't stranger to some design tropes such as JRPG corridor design with loot in branches.

It is simultaneously funny and frustrating when a particular thing that a game tries to teach her just doesn't get into her brain. The game will sometimes try to teach her a concept, reinforce that concept and then she will completely forget it within the same session.
I guess she might not have much of a "puzzle pattern" brain. So like, if there's explicit signposting like with the signs in Portal, she will understand, but if there's implicit signposting, she will completely miss it.
