Gura has no control over her own content because Cover has taken notice of how meteoric her growth has been and the value of her brand image. Her game selection is determined by a team of managers, product specialists, PR managers and marketing representative before being approved by Tanigo himself. Her streams are heavily scripted, and she's given roughly translated emails full of point-form talking points ("mention your feet again. They like that", "talk about the bathroom again" etc.) and vague instructions about what to do in game for 'better content'. She gets about 50 discord PMs per stream from managers micromanaging her every mannerism, telling her what catchphrases to use or drop, reminding her to talk about the bathroom like the email said, telling her to raise the pitch of her voice when it accidentally slips back towards her natural range or just saying "stick to the script" whenever she gathers enough confident to pursue a tangent organically. All of her minecraft constructions projects are planned and blueprinted by Cover's resident minecraft research team, who has been secretly developing the EN server offscreen and crediting Ina for it. It exists explicitly for Gura's personal use.
Gura herself has been growing disenfranchised by the lack of creative control she has over her streams and the direction that Cover is taking her image and isn't sure she wants to continue being a vtuber, but isn't prepared to give up such a golden oppourtunity for reasons of integrity. She frequently cancels streams because she cries herself hoarse or because one of the strongly worded emails telling her to shape up and know her place, or that she missed this weeks' viewer quota and it will be noted on her pending performance review gave her so much anxiety that she'd rather pull out her own skin than put herself in front of a microphone and pretend to giggle again. She's being groomed as the new face of the company with plans to appear on tv commercials, radio interviews, talk shows and sponsored merchandise all around japan and north america and the pressure from all of the expectations placed on her have her nearly at the breaking point.
