I shilled this girl a while back, so I'll try shilling her again. Her name is Mieko Makino. She just hit 1k on YT so she'll be getting monetization soon hopefully. When I picked her up she was at single-digit ccv, but now she's hitting 20 or even 30 with Kirby streams. She is also getting a new model(pic related). She is streaming Kirby right now actually.

Her story is unique IMO. The character is an "ojou-sama" but she plays the part extremely well because she is essentially one irl. Her family seems to be pretty well-off and somewhat strict; she knows 5 languages, and has a lot of skills/hobbies like singing, drawing, playing piano, violin, making custom keyboards, playing games, etc. She even talks about needing to act presentable and ladylike for family gatherings or other big gatherings she attends. She supposedly used to be really popular & outgoing in school, but is a bit more of a shut-in now and is focused hard on streaming.

I have a feeling she'll be inclining more as time goes on. She has a really cute voice, and has enough interests to keep up a nice variety of streams. Her stories are interesting and she's fun to interact with as a viewer. She keeps up very good idol appearances but isn't a literal one or boring as fuck. She's also one of the few indies worth watching on YT if you're tribalistic about websites.

Going by past experiences, it's not good. You need to be very lucky to get picked up by the algorithm and generally feel isolated. Viewer bug still exists, and you get automated copyright claims for absolutely everything. There's a noticeable chat delay that makes chat interaction awkward, and if you do get the a new viewer wandering into your stream it usually ends up being a child, BR, or straight up fucking weirdo. The threads used to prefer youtube over twitch in the early, early days until everyone realized it's just a dead end for non-corpos, and literally everyone found greater success on twitch.

It's not ideal and I wish it were different, but this is how Susan built her platform. Use youtube for videos, twitch for streaming. Maybe one day we'll get a better platform, but I couldn't tell when that might happen.

Ah, understood. Thanks for the in-depth explanation. Yeah even from a non-monetary standpoint I can see how being isolated is a huge problem for a beginner. That stinks though, especially since I'd like to try vtubing but I can't stand twitch viewers. I think there's a balance to be found between acting like internet people are longtime personal friends and putting them on some pedestal like hollywood actors.
