It was a time in college, where I was swarmed with homework and student council duties. I was alone in my apartment with all things piled up against me. My internet broke a few weeks ago for 10 days and haven't gotten my exam and just after the internet was restored the School Intramurals started and I had to facilitate a tournament while releasing and recording funds that is used because I'm the treasurer. Still haven't done my exams, projects, and the 4th quarter just started and I'm still behind 3rd grading. I lie in bed felt my whole body was getting heavier and heavier, then in my feed I saw a vtuber, a GFE vtuber. I didn't know japanese aside from the few phrases I learned from watching anime. But while listening to her asmr, Even without understanding it. I can feel like I was being pampered, I was being loved. It was pathetic I know. Still, being alone with no one to tell and comfort me about my problems because everyone is dealing with their own. I felt I had something to cry to, to lean to with all the things I've dealt. Even though she probably can't hear me. Even when it's just an illusion. I felt I have someone who actually loves me and cares for me. Like a fuzzy cloak being wrapped around on my freezing shoulder, a kindling flame that made my cold recluse heart tender. GFE might all be fake but what I felt during those wearying times, it is real and that's all that matters. That's how I got into Vtubers.

Came across Fubuki's Scatman video. Thought it was just some random anime girl going at one of my favorite songs. Subscribed just in case more stuff pops out, and thought nothing of it.

Later that summer, I started watching a couple mahjong vtubers. At the time, the term "vtuber" did not exist in my head. It was just mahjong streaming content as far as I was concerned.

And I never heard of Hololive until HoloEN showed up. Of all their debut, I only saw like 4-5 minutes of Gura going through her profile. However, I gave her a chance with her first gaming stream. Full on rabbit hole after that.

I saw a clip of Rushia playing dark souls and thought it was a dumb but cute concept, but i don't understand Japanese so i didn't watch her stream. Then i was inundated with Matsuri clips and thought she was funny. Decided to see if there was any board that had vtuber shit and found /jp/. Then Towa had her yab and she became my first love. Ame came out and I'd watch her Karaoke's and Kronii i thought I'd get into but i didn't either. Even with EN i couldn't be bothered to do anything except watch clips. Then I saw a Fauna clip of her sliding her live2d model on the getting over it slide, watched her emo karaoke, and finally after like 3 years of being a clipfag i found a vtuber who I'd watch consistently and would plan my days around her schedule for.
