To be fair to her she did get fucked up. Even before they debuted, even before we ever heard her voice, she was dead last by a WIDE margin in subcount simply because of her skin color. It's definitely demotivating if you get fucked over by things outside your control.
That said, most chuubas who are low subcount try even harder to compensate for it. It just reveals your own terrible character if this is what makes you throw in the towel and pull an Ayame.

On a side note, Susan infamously slashed their subs by an insane amount (which is primary the reason why they're still so fucking low in general) and Sana of all people got hit the hardest. The sub slash has always been bizarre to me since the LESS subs they had, the MORE they got removed. If it was just a blank % cut then Kronii should have lost the most.

Because it's a game that she's interested in and enjoys playing, similar to how she did a lot of streaming when the new Pokemon games came out because she loves Pokemon. Whether she will keep up with her current streaming record is yet to be seen after She's done with Kirby, but it would be a step in the right direction if she wants to get a new outfit to fix her issues with her old one, that is, if she's the one complaining about it.

Ayame has been in Hololive long enough that her laziness is seen by some as "earned", whereas Sana hasn't even been around for a year. Ayame also has a fanbase that enables her by opening their wallets for Ayame's monthly streams, whereas Sana hasn't developed such as fanbase around her. If Cover give Ayame a new costume they can at least rest assured at they'll get their money back and then some, whereas they can't really say the same with Sana for the above reasons.

Whether or not either of us think Sana is justified in her "strike", my point is that she's effectivly shooting herself in the foot if she wants her model to be "fixed", moreso when other Hololive members had to deal with worse for much longer, Flare being a prominent example. It also doesn't make her look good either. If she really wants to fix her model, she needs to keep up with her current streaming, ideally increase her streams, to show Cover that she actually wants to be in Hololive and would give her something to point at when Cover asks her why they should fix her model, or she can go the Matsuri/Coco route and just pay for it out of her own pocket.

It has a weird shading to it, I think that's really the grand issue, pic related is her debut, till then I believe she's co-opted the idea of some OBS' settings that generally made her skin look a lot lighter but I think it's more to fix the lighting of the games she plays
She has a bit of a mandela effect, people remember her for some reason as ultra dark brown, it's not really true, her skin is light, but the OBS settings she used makes her seem white and already white chuubas like Ina or Bae literally difficult to look at blinding
