The way I've coped with this is by acknowledging that whatever it is that is out there is something so vast and incomprehensible to my human brain that trying to adhere to a specific religion is, for me at least, pointless. I just have a lot of faith that something I can not hope to understand with my human mind exists. It makes more logical sense to believe that reality isn't confined to what I can experience with my own five senses.
The way I see it, all religions are describing the same thing from the perspectives of the cultures and people that developed them. It brings to mind the parable of a group of blind men who have never encountered an elephant before trying to describe what an elephant is after having touched different parts of the animal. They all disagree because one of them touched the trunk, another its legs, another its ear, etc. But ultimately they all try in vain to describe the elephant from their limited perspective, and unfortunately they all get in an argument over it.

Christianity seems to be the harshest as you'll be tortured, and then post rapture you'll swim in a sea of lava for the rest of eternity.
