Suisei really admired Kanata's roommate, but I think once they started actually hanging out and interacting, they realized they don't have much in commons besides music. Given Kanata's condition, it might be awkward to see Suisei achieving new milestone every year while Kanata can't sing as well as she used to (as least in her mind).
Also when Kanata first joined Hololive, Suisei was one of the few people she had known before Hololive. As time goes on, Kanata found new friends that she are more compatible with like Coco and Marine, while Suisei also had her own clique. It's sorta like a PekoMiko situation where two people just naturally drifted apart due to outside circumstances. And once you stopped regularly keeping in touch, it's really hard to talk again especially with Suisei's and Kanata's autism. I think the only roommates' friendship that are still going strong are FubuMio and OkaKoro.

Not really. If anything it seemed as if Suisei was the one who wanted to push Hoshi no Kanata really hard, but Kanata stepped away knowing she couldn't keep up. I don't think it's a coincidence that they stopped being a thing shortly after Kanata's disease got worse and she completely lost hearing on one side.
