The general rule of thumb is Twitch if your content is primarily based on livestreaming and YouTube if your content is primarily pre-recorded and edited.

>Do you think there's an audience for X, Y, Z content?
First, ask yourself if you would watch a streamer of your skill and experience. Second, do a check on social media and look to see if other streamers are already creating similar content. Don't limit yourself to vtubers, include traditional real life streamers to scope out a potential audience.

No, just upgrade and modify your design as you go. It's a natural part of the process. You can hype it up as outfit or new model reveals/updates etc. It's not a necessary move to cast off your old alias/community unless big corpo wants you to be a voice actor.

It'd be easy to have initial art for, can just have a black silhouette with spooky eyes.
Personally I find the idea appealing because I just kinda like the juxtaposition of something you feel you should be scared of being genuinely friendly/caring.
and a literal nightmare creature ending his broadcasts with "Sleep tight and sweet dreams" feels fun.

Also, did you know that if you get really good at lucid dreaming that you can sit your dream body or w/e up out of your physical body and just tell the sleep paralysis demon to leave? I used to get sleep paralysis pretty often, but I haven't ever since I managed to do that. It jumped when I acknowledged it and told it to leave. They're chickens

Personally I don't care for the character/lore gimmick too much. You'd be better off writing a book or a movie if it was about that stuff. I love horror so I'd like to see the designs. There's a couple really strange non-human chuubs, but yeah you miss every shot you don't take.

It's not so much lore things or whatever, just a shadow with eyes is a very easy model to get a basic start with and going with a dream demon motif lends itself to branching out into a lot of designs down the line.
And the peak performance will probably be ASMR of tucking the listener into bed.

They probably are just friends who want to seem more legitimate. There's real power in streaming and having a reliable group that you're always interreacting with. If even one of you takes off, everyone else rides the coattails.

Well do a PSA stream and trust what you built up in the past to carry over. People will welcome you back and check in on you and ask where you've been and stuff but you have to be mindful not to become hooked to that.

I'm all fucked up and haven't streamed properly in a month. To be quite honest, I'm holding myself back from succeeding because I hate myself for having problems and am genuinely not able to handle money whatsoever. 5$ I go and spend on drugs to the point where I'm in McDonald's parking lots at 4 am in the rain scavenging for clips and instead I find dead animals and spent needles. I'm still pretty conflicted on keeping up appearances but to be honest, I don't think it would be good for me or my content to be secretive. But that's because of the level of parasocial I go.

I'm thinking about a public fundraiser announcement and then going streaming full-time. I've survived for three years without income whatsoever, not even public assistance or food stamps I used to have. My life is a mess and so am I. It's fun to stream together as much as it is to game together. You can look at it as game "clans" or "guilds" at it's lowest level. Even yellowcat's pyramid chuub scheme is focused more on getting people to stream than being professional. At the least I prefer the business-only networking style. VRoid person for VRoid, Blender person for Blender, with a couple guys for computer tech support and crypto stonks. Again though, it's literally just people grouping up as they will regardless vtuber or not. Most are not serious to the point of having a tangible legal presence.

I just want to vent a little, even though it' not monday.

I've worked in IT/FinTech for five years. I hate it. I hate dealing with the customers, I hate the stupid responsibilities that get dropped on me by management, and I hate that new people come in, see how jaded I am, and say "Oh it can't be that bad" before burning out, or screwing up and getting fired.
I get paid a decent enough wage (roughly $21/hour) that I had been willing to put up with it all.

And then I started streaming.

I love streaming. I love doing the streams, I love doing all the background stuff, I love doing the managerlarp with friends and helping them get bigger. I enjoy editing videos, and bashing plugins together until I get the effect I want.

But i've earned $300 (plus one sponsorship) in nice months.
I've yet to manage to get to a >10 CCV month, even if I can do it on some streams.

Even if I managed to get that cabin and crop fields in the woods I've wanted, I haven't earned enough to cover the internet costs.

And having something I enjoy so much more has ruined my job.
I think about quitting most days. Whenever I get an email, or a snarky comment from anyone, I leave my desk for five minutes and wonder whether this'll be the straw tht makes me leave and never return.

artist asked for a specific design for my character's sword, how did i do swordfriends? i wanted something "functional" (yes i know straight blade isn't function) so i basically went with standard issue jrpg sword.

The character has a second blade on the back (it's hidden / wrapped) which is a huge ornamented dragon sword (think maladath, but bigger and more unwieldy) because it wasn't originally used by a human, but the design is still tentative. Mouth work is the hardest of the fundamental live2d techniques in my opinion. The more variations you add in the higher quality you get but it takes a lot of time. i think this will be the final time i share progress on the model since it's been slow either way, but it's also close to being done!

now's your last chance to get your opinion in, but I'm fairly happy with the result so far. if you think the character looks "generic" then that's my intention, i have no interest in adding more design elements and frankly i do believe a lot of the chuuba designs are a little bit too extreme. I'm a simple guy and i just really like the adventurer aesthetic anything more wouldn't fit me as a person i believe.

If that's the case, just make your character an OC and use him for, I don't know, D&D or FFXIV?
