The issue is that the counter is piss-easy.
[Pooled Dividends]/[Volume] used to determine the amount of dividends. You could even use [Projected Volume] by looking at how the market is trending/how many shares are being bought by day.
Do this, and you'll immediately run into the issue of the market becoming completely average across all coins. This change doesn't make the market more "chaotic" since it has an in-built system through which it'll equalize itself.

Yup. Same way you "know" Dividends currently. It's not hard to extrapolate them. Even if the pooled dividends were to be uncapped, you could still approximate them from views/subs statistics from Thrusday.

As always, I think there's ways to improve or rework designs instead of just scrapping them entirely. We keep the current performance based model but up the values each coin pays out and pool each coin individually based on a sort of auction system. Each individual player can put a certain amount of money into each chuba for divs, determining how much divs the player gets. You get the percentage amount you contributed to the pot.

For example, Nabi has only 1 person contributing to her pot. They put in $1.That person gets full 100% div payout of that coin ~4000 (div payouts upped for this reason). Everyone else contributed nothing to the Nabi pot- they get 0 from Nabi divs, no matter how many coins they are holding. Mori is a known gudcoin with a payout of 10000 at 100%. Unfortunately everyone knows this and the 2000000 you put in only gets you 1% of the pot. you get a payout of 100 for all your mori coins.

This change is PVP in nature which isn't exactly P2P but is heavily player interaction. There is no transferring of funds or "boosting" possible since 3rd parties can easily take advantage of "I won't invest in your oshi". It allows for more rivalries and oshiwars since players have to share their oshi's pot. If cypher wants to fuck Tampa over, he can do it by booming Marine's pot instead of having to 10x her

Bad estimates throw money in the void. This is basically a "how high will x adjust" bet with the other party being the broker. Learning and experimentation would have to be used to find proper values, but in the long term this could remove more money than it prints.

I posted a concept of this idea in the first armchair dev thread before the devs came out with their own pooled divs concept. I think the idea is worth considering if the devs' implementation is being discussed. Feel free to give your hot take whether for or against or another rework.

I saw this post ages ago when the first time these discussions appeared but never really responded to it.
Firstly, it's very interesting and I respect the thought of yours but I don't think it fits well within the basis of nasfaq as it is and would likely require a reset for implementation.

My main issue with this is the vast differentiation of this from how nasfaq is currently of "buy, hold, get divs" and is why I say a reset would be required as this would be a very fundamental gameplay change to how it is now for a very key aspect of the game.
But to discuss your idea, I do like it, but the pools would likely have to continuously increase with the increase of money an individual would accumulate from trading and the dividends, or else you would result in increasingly marginal returns on how much money you would dump into the pool, or else the money needed to actually get a share of a pool would increase while also not offering much in return, and eventually reach a flatline of just the right price for divs vs how much money you can make from trading (which is cool, but results in there not being enough money) You mention about it curbing inflation, which it likely will, but also might just result in players being completely broke on money and not having a fun time of being able to do all the trades they may wish. Oshicoining might become dead in the water as you are actively tossing away your money into an "untradeable" coin that you won't ever recoup your money unless you dump more money into div pools, which also takes away further profits from trading. You can make more money if you have money, that's always been the case, but the system proposal sort of drains money passively with oshicoining, killing a good portion of fun for players, this is different if you decide to not reset, but also still impacts new players.
Dividends currently act as a "bailout" of sorts for new players and helps them to progress even slightly and contribute to them being able to hold oshi, which nearly every player does and plays for in some way and is a reason why many get into the game, me included, under the ideal of trying to buy and rep your oshi. If I were to fuck up repeatedly as a newfag (cause I'm new), I would have no way to recoup my losses without making a new account. It isn't fun sitting at 0 money and struggling to make trades, especially if taxes remain, and just having to slowly grind out thousands of dollars to be able to trade 1 more coin than you were able to yesterday.

The other key issue I say is that it is fundamentally more PvP focused as you are actively competing with other players which could result in the fun(?) part of PvP of players Miyacucking together to essentially take an entire pot of a coin, especially if they're comprised of a bunch of rich players, and then could redistribute that money to said player if auctions remain. You would have to require that players do not see how much others contributed to the pool, which honestly could be fundamentally back traced by seeing how much you contributed versus how much you received from that pool/the total pool size which causes a layer of obfuscation that requires more work to be done for the many casual level players who aren't playing optimally but want to buy oshi/coins they like, which again, does add a layer of "skill" but might honestly filter players from participating. It is very simple to understand "buy coin, on friday, you get money from holding coin based on performance" vs "pay a price to try and get a share of a pool of money, larger price gets you a larger share" which is a tad more confusing than the initial system.

Sorry if I got a little long winded, a lot of thoughts about this came to head and I might've repeated myself as I tried to mention all of this.

I'm going to be honest I imagined the feature with it already implemented and didn't think about the transition much. Thinking about it, top 20 could realistically just dominate the first few divs and smother everyone else out of the market. I think it's a gamble whether the initial implementation would kill the game, which really kills a lot of this idea's viability. A reset would work with the idea well but I'm not a big fan of having to be accommodated by other features or a great reset in general, even if it wouldn't be up to me.

I agree with you on half of the newfag problem. I agree it might be too big of a filter out the gate, which is a problem given our already small stream of new players. I would suggest an exemption in the form of maybe a div multiplier up to a certain level, maybe coinciding with the newfag tax break idea that's been discussed. However, I don't think divs being a "bailout" to fuckups is a fair point since I don't think mechanics should be balanced on the people yet to learn the game. Even in the current system, I know some people remake an account after 'learning' how to play so I don't think it would be that different to how it would be now.

The idea mostly came because I felt most old players are mostly dissatisfied with just "buy coin, on friday, you get money from holding coin based on performance" since there's basically nothing to do at that point in the game. While I do enjoy the sense of skill it might bring, I mostly want to give oldfags something to do after climbing all the corpses. Your point about the filter is what I was concerned about most because I want to reignite interest rather than filter casuals. That's why I wanted to have discussion in the thread to see counter possibilities and the interest of the people.

Since this idea was birthed before taxes/auctions, I didn't really adapt those aspects into the newest idea. Redistribution of wealth hurts the idea a lot and I don't expect/want auctions to be removed for the sake of this change even if I think auctions were a mistake to begin with . I will retire working on this idea, since I think auctions and the integration are risks too big for the idea to be considered healthy in the current state of the game.

You have to be spending 24/7 to spend all of your dividends "ideally" each week. Selling means your need to spend even more. You can even buy stupid shit and be alright. I have been buying Kovalskia 3x for at least three days straight.

The amount of players using the 14 day average makes it self fulfilling. You can assume people will buy (or sell) to a certain price point. Koyori's all time price is a good example of this.

I am considering Civia to be a good investment at this stage.

My strategy can be viewed as an issue tree. Based on whether coin brings good dividends or not, the amount of coins, the size of dip/spike compared to 14-day average and potential dvidends payout it decides whether to buy or sell and at what rate.
I tried to make the parameters pretty self-explanatory. For most of them, you can understand what they do by just playing around with settings (don't go too crazy, though).

Oshicoining is pretty complicated. There are at least three types of people, based on how they deal with oshi (the ones, who don't care and treat her like any other coin; the ones who allways buy' the ones you just described). The idea of a switch does seem nice and more convenient, but I need to think of how to implent it into this mess.

In this model M.P.P. only really matters for coins that are used in day-trading. If you have enough coins to empty out in one day, then the only reason for you to buy more is to improve M.P.P.
The "Div%MPP" stat is needed to determine which stacks give good dividends and therefore are more valueble (so you should sell them at the lower rate, than other coins).

main advice for starting players is the ingame % are based of yesterday, not average value, so if you see a coin normally worth 10 go to 15, then back to 10, ingame it will be red, but the dip is fake its not going back up to 15, check the all time graphs not just the 24 hour
secondly, the ingame percents use potential profit % not real % i.e 10 falling to 3.3 is somehow -200% instead of -66%, because it thinks 3.3 +200% = 10. I still don't get why this thread exists anymore. Say advertisement but the average person will be put off by your in jokes and won't care. Say game discussion and you can open global chat right now and see all the game discussion there instead of in thread even has the ability to be anonymous too. I'd like to say having game discussions and such in thread would help, but there is a reason why people enjoy doing it in global more. There's no captcha, there is no timer to post. Attempting to make OC could help, but for a full list of ways that'd help preserve the thread without gracefully killing it isn't coming to mind right now. I wish I could come up with a solution just like that and allow the global fags to enjoy their chat but not even the aggie could do that.

I rather prefer using the game chat because of lower cooldown and I can say anything in there, and it's a chat. Could always just use the thread for deeper game discussions that cannot be explained properly through the chat and when giving visual to your explanation, and use the thread for spreadsheets you are fine to share with everyone and in-depth game knowledge that you want to share with everyone.

In all my honest opinion, this recline started already since aggie since off-topics, game topics, adjustment reactions(tips, who will (You) buy and sell, etc) are happening there too at that time but I can't see the reason why everyone is starting to give attention to it just because of the new global chat.

Basically, thread is better for effortposts, and we're suffering from lack of them and slow erosion in that department. Maybe some kind of an OC contest could liven it up, at least temporarily? Creating those by-the-thread for-the-thread events would keep things moving and if >we pool money together voluntarily, then it'd also help newfags and encourage them to engage more here.

Rough ideas for OC contests:

I believe we have reached a point where enough abayos/breaks are happening right now that the thread can't survive like the old times, at least from my perspective the decline has started in the last few weeks or maybe month, GC has been around for longer than that.
The main thing in the thread was big posts with more in depth discussion, with Triangle and the Fandead in a break those are the one that you feel missing the most, due avatarfag, but point still stands, I'm not sure how much 8man posted in the thread but he's definitely knowledgeable and is now in a break too, same with Harem, he used to post a lot in discussion, mainly giving his thoughts from a Towa perspective, but they were good posts, but after 100k he pretty much retired and these posts don't happen anymore, Tampa also makes great posts but I often feel like he's more the type to reply to a discussion that someone started rather than start one by himself.
What I'm getting at, is that the big posts no longer happen because those who made them aren't here anymore or there's one guy left that has no one to bounce ideas with.
The last time I remember most of the thread engaged in something like this was for multicoin buff discussion, it really felt like everyone was giving it their spin and supporting it or rejecting it, now it feels like the same 2 anons posting between themselves when any discussion happens.
Is GC to blame? I don't know, it certainly kills newfag discussion, you no longer get people asking for advice in the thread because global chat is much faster, other than that, the thread is only missing the "ohhhh red day" "jesas Mori" and all the reaction posts that come at adjustment.
So in conclusion, I don't think GC is to blame, I think that the ones who generated lengthy discussions in the thread are simply gone or taking breaks and there just no one to take their place right now.

You know what I miss? The Kenzoku image spam, the Takodachis of the world posts, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers posts that would piss people off, the Neneposts that would either be soulful or retarded or both, the long discussions between five or six players (that weren't 80% shitflinging and 20% discussion), the shitposts that meant absolutely nothing but put a smile on your face, the constant HOOOOOOOOOONKing, the offtopic chat that happened (yes, even well after the aggie was used as an offtopic chatroom). You know what is to blame? A lot of things, but don't just leave it to one thing like the aggie or global chat. There were more important factors that affected the death of the thread's soul, like the people who constantly pumped out posts against the things mentioned above, the deaths of players.
