The general rule of thumb is Twitch if your content is primarily based on livestreaming and YouTube if your content is primarily pre-recorded and edited.

>Do you think there's an audience for X, Y, Z content?
First, ask yourself if you would watch a streamer of your skill and experience. Second, do a check on social media and look to see if other streamers are already creating similar content. Don't limit yourself to vtubers, include traditional real life streamers to scope out a potential audience.

I think it's realistic to expect that some people will just get skipped due to the sheer amount of applications they get in. I too put a shit ton of effort into my application + the video (which is in full 3D with mocap tracking with environments i made myself), but I'm half expecting it to get ignored. I'll reapply every three months though for as long as that application is open now that they want dudes.

I speak English, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and Spanish/Portuguese (So I guess 7? But they're close enough that I can switch inbetween.)

I wrote approximately 3-4 paragraphs per prompt. I got no views last time, but I also didn't have mastery of all the programs I do now. Did you list any tech know-how or artsy things like drawing or singing?

Also congrats on the Holo views. I also got a few on my Holo one, but I don't think my art or other skills are good enough to hire since they've got artists like Ina and Sana already.

For my self PR, mine was really short. It was my additional information that was really long with other comments or clarifications.

I was targeting his commentary skills too. Good commentators are already good streamers usually, but then that begs the question of why he's fine with potentially diminishing his public presence, unless the game is either small or he's not actually on commentary usually for one reason or another, as well as the fact that it's going to be extremely obvious who he is since your voice is going to be the most well known part of you as a commentator. Anyone can call themselves a commentator doing some oohs and ahhs at their small events as well, and analytical commentators are usually valuable for different games at big events but that doesn't translate to good streamer quality and they typically act as foils for the hypeman commentator.
So to me, being told that someone is a commentator isn't very useful. Organizing events is also not something that I think will be useful as a corpo vtuber beyond the fact that it proves you have work ethic.

So I've got an initial draft version of my chuuba avatar made (pending actually getting a Live2D commissioned), and in the meantime I wanted to PNGtube, but with a reactive image to make it ever-so-slightly more engaging.

Having a good silhouette and clear design goals is always good. A good example are Botan and Gura's success. Very memorable and memable

I'm an artist looking into streaming now that I've built up a following on twitter but I'm not sure if I should go for vtubing or face cam. It's been about 3 weeks, and today I reached affiliate on Twitch.
CCV for my streams kinda fluctuate depending on what time I stream, but it more or less the average is about 15.

Been slowly ramping up streams/week and doing networking reps. Still struggling to find new audience members, particularly for my singing content, but I do get an occasional new viewers during gaming streams. Have a cover in the works so maybe that'll help?

Live2D will probably be done by June, will probably have a 'redebut' then.

Male vtuber advantages over just being a streamer is not much.
If anything, it would be harder and costlier to enter the market --
with very little actual returns.

Now that you mention it, it doesn't seem like there's many male vtubers. I guess one of the main selling points is waifu made real.
I just figured vtuber thing might be good since I'm hesitant to show my face because doxxing and what not. I could always just not have a face, but a face is vital to making a connection to the audience, no matter how insignificant or fake it is. Fucking SsethTzeentach has the African warlord as his "face" and it helps establish his identity in the web. Get yourself following a few chuubas on twitter. Some will follow back, especially if they're small. Interact with them, even if it's only small comments on some of their posts. But it needs to be comments, not just likes.

Yeah, having funny memey stuff like that might work better than being a vtuber.
Their strengths (compared to youtubers in general) come from their good-looks, vocal charm, and their ability to sell it as part of the experience.

Almost like a host (or at least how I think they work), conversation and selling your character is important.
But if you aren't making that part of your selling point, you'll abandon the strengths of the medium.
And you'll be left with it's weaknesses.

If you're good at editing, have an okay voice to listen to, play a good selection of games (in an entertaining to watch fashion) you could sell yourself that way.

I've seen guys use cartoony vtuber models, so if you want a sort of inbetween, that could work.

Sorry if I made it seem like that. I love it's concept but, to me, it requires someone to leverage those strengths properly.
Most young males (Your usual audience), would probably find it awkward to have an anime prettyboy or man in the bottom-right of the screen.

If you're looking to be a brotuber, maybe being less human, or having funny face emotes to disarm the viewer might help.
If you look at people like Jerma and Speedy:
They're entertaining to their audiences and their funny faces have good meme potential -- they turn more into comedy characters, since they try sell the big funny. Instead of trying to sell both big funny and good-looks to young men.

I’m kind of thinking of reworking Salome of the basic aesthetics and lighten up the skin color a little to make the design more… palatable? And I hope less plain/generic and add more dimension to it.

Wrote this unsolicited advice for another thread but it seems to fit /asp/ more:

All successful chuubas have something that made them unique other than their model: rapping, music production, video editing, being a professional artist, fluency in multiple languages, former idol, voice acting, standup comedy, predator rank in apex, grandmaster/pro in league, tetris queen, have a terminal illness, etc.

Whenever you remember one of those stories, write it down somewhere. When there's a lull in your stream, whip out the story and tell it to the best of your ability. The best way to worldbuild is to do it with subtlety, slip in bits here and there, behind the actual narrative.
