They already did auditions for the 2nd VTA wave months ago, so unless they threw all of those out it seems more like they're doing 2 tracks?
As in one for people who have absolutely 0 experience (who will get more intense lessons) and one for experienced streamers (who will get very basic "intro to Nijisanji" lessons), or something like that.
That's my guess at least, because otherwise I imagine they'd just go back to normal applications.

All the PR also calls this "Supplementary Recruitment", rather than just reopening auditions.
Pretty sure this is just so people who already have the skills they're teaching complete newbies to streaming don't have to waste their time with the whole program. There's no need to teach them basic stuff, so they can skip to like, "here's how you deal with copyright as a corpo", "here's how you use the Nijisanji app", "here's a list of things you should never say on stream", etc.

Nijifag here, I think management is trying to have the cake and eat it too, but in a rather dumb fashion.

So when VTA opened it replaced the normal nijisanji audition page, and VTA specifically targets people without streaming experience. What this means is that Nijisanji was locked out of the normal hiring pool. This is them getting back in, but for some reason they grafted "totally-not-the-old-method" audition to VTA for some reason.

Personally I'd prefer if they do away with the subtlety and just provide two seperate options red carpet normal auditions if you're good, and VTA if you're a nobody. Maybe it's an optics issue?

We'll see when the 2nd VTA class debuts, but I think that's the intent (since they did have regular VTA auditions in December as well).
They'll probably be doing auditions for nobodies every year or so followed by "supplementary auditions" for people with some experience a few months after. After all, even an existing indie will need SOME training, just nothing as intense as the people with no experience at all.

Tribalism asides, what does VTA even teach the students? No singing, dancing or streaming practice - what's left to study? Thumbnails making? PR skills?
