Unfortunately true. On this board it feels like Hololive is more about shitting on Niji than actually liking Hololivers. But that might just be because Hololive-fans are contained in their threads instead of generating several concurrent bait threads.
Vice versa with Niji is also true. But doesn't seem to be as frequent, maybe because Holo has a few more obsessive trolls or just has more /vt/ members overall.

Regardless, trolls on both are just corporate brand loyalists who drunk too deep of the kool-aid. No different than Apple Fanboys vs Microsoft Fanboys.

Might be a cultural issue. The west nowadays seems to love tearing things down: deconstruct everything, question everything, and whoever is the least invested and laziest and most apathetic is the coolest. That doesn't mesh well with idol culture, which focuses more on positivity, being able to play along with things, and politeness, among other things.

I couldn't have put it better. I rarely ever see anything talk about this, too. I'm really glad I'm not the only one who thinks this way. I also think that irony tends to be something people use to shield themselves from negative emotions. I wonder where that comes from and why this mentality is so particular to the west. If I had to hazard a guess, maybe it's that the west has made "deconstruction" such a big part of its culture that to actually show genuine emotions or some vulnerability makes people afraid that they will look stupid once the thing they are showing emotions about is deconstructed, too. I can kinda understand that mentality, but it seems like a pretty depressing way to live life, I imagine. We only have this one life, so it's better to have fun while you can instead of giving in to fear.
