KanAZKi was great, both solo and particularly the duet. SuiTowa was the same, but neither of them can dance for their lives which was pretty cute. Moona was unsurprisingly really good, but I wasn't expecting a good choreography from her on top of everything. Gura's Reflect sounded much better live then studio version which is a constant problem for Hololive. Marine's new song was 100% her even if I'm not sure I'd listen to it a whole lot. Nothing else really stood out in my memory other then Korone's flip, but the quality was actually really good which is an expected but welcome change after FES2 and the Gen 3 concert.

I'm fine with streaming, since it's akin to how actual musicians go on talk shows and other things which let you get a feel for their personalities. I can't imagine they'd stream regularly but seeing them for an hour or two every week would be really interesting. Is there a group of people who buy tickets for every mixed live event? I'm surprised there's enough demand for all of them for them to be profitable (or at least be expected to due to sequels etc) without having massive breaks between each one.

If you include more performers, you will have a bigger audience to make sales to. The problems arise when you have so many in the event which means that either everyone gets paid very small amounts, which usually leads to short sections which can leave people feeling like they didn't get their money's worth if they were only interested in one or two performers, or you make the event really big and expensive which can kill your sales. There's also the problem of handling revenue split if the performers are getting a portion of it and aren't simply payed a fixed rate when you have wildly disparate popularity. However, don't underestimate the amount that people are willing to pay to see their small time oshi on the big stage, as shown by how much money is thrown around in all of those Live Life Live contests on Reality and the Vtuber Fes thing that MiMi competed in.

I don't dislike 3D singers, but I like the culture and music that accompanies being a vsinger or utaite, and I also like the promise of pure escapism. 3D musicians, especially Western ones, are generally annoying to follow at any higher level then letting Spotify notify you that they've got a new album out, while I'll happily follow my favorite Vsingers on Twitter and streams. I also will fully admit that there is a touch of hipster-ism for me in that I like finding new stuff, and the vsinger community is both big enough to find things that I find interesting but small enough to easily crawl from the easily accessible entry points, such as Hololive, down to the small time creators with only a few steps, especially because of the efforts of people like AZKi. There's also a constant outflow of new content to stay engaged with, since singing streams aren't really a thing in the West except for in the weeb community and if I'm not scared off by Japanese, there's no reason to limit myself to merely that small subset.

Unrelated, but FES reminded me how good Roboco can be when she's in her zone. I wish there was more chill-hop chuubas.

Not really. I fell down the vsinger largely due to finding Melissa near her debut, and being amazed at her covers because she sounds very close to my favourite active singer i.e. Francis Quinlan (from the band Hop Along). Sadly Melissa can't sing like Quinlan does live, but her studio recordings are a blessing. Oh this was also the time, Carnivorous Planet was blowing up on Tiktok and that sounds exactly like the current vogue of western Indie Pop just through a Japanese lens. Kinda why I mostly follow singers from Niji and Kami with a handful of Indies and other agencies like Riot, Live Union, and Tsunderia that I got to know through this thread.

Hibana has been doing some singing streams on her way to 4.5k. I like her relationship with her fans where it's very banter and teasing heavy, in addition to her being a great singer. She's also savvy enough to use the chapters feature to mark her songs, so it's easy to scroll through for ones that you know you want to listen to if you're not sure you want to invest the time for an entire stream.

There's a certain level of irony of rating Rotate Repeated that low when it's one of the few she's composed, but did you really like Existlog that much? Both songs off the EP were good, but I felt like they were fairly generic, especially when put against the Give You My Love EP where I really loved the title track. The drop on Existlog at the start is really nice, but it doesn't really grab me after that.

I don't think Rotate Repeated is bad, but I personally just can't get into it. Maybe my opinion will change if I listen to it more.

Existlog feels satisfyingly balanced and complete to me, and in my opinion it's smooth and pleasant to listen to without getting boring. I don't think it's necessarily a strictly better song than some in the next tier down like Sayonara Hero and FFF, but I think it was executed well enough to bump it into the top tier.

Also, the first halves of the GYML EP are just a little too uneventful for me to really get into them. I think when I hear the songs I instantly think of the more energetic latter parts (which I enjoy more), then it feels like I have to wait for the first parts to finish. It's pretty dumb but I think that impacts my opinion of those songs.

That's fair. I don't disagree with Rotate Repeat not being her best work, but I really love how it feels on the chorus. The 'Mawaru' part really rolls off nicely even if the rest of the song is a little clumsy at points, but redeems itself with the big howl. I think some of her more recent works show how much she's grown as a composer, since Last Frontier and Koyatte, Itsumademo are lovely, in addition to all of the more recent ones.

While my memory isn't perfect, /vsinger/ sits in a very weird spot since it was originally the result of three very disparate groups coming together to keep the thread alive. You had the 'extended universe' of /mori/ with Riri, Rene, Hachi, Luci, MiMi, and Boogey as that had a couple of anons forming a colony, but that wasn't enough to make it's own thread. You then had the the VWP crowd who'd come around whenever there was a concert, but didn't have a home to stay in once the event was over and threads would just fade away. Lastly, you had the people who were interested in talking about smaller vsingers, both corporate and indie, but didn't want to have to wade through the un-curated mess that is the general vyt-style threads, whether that was the Western side or the Japanese side, because there's no way to have an actual discussion with walls of links getting posted without comment.

You can still sort of see how this has influenced the thread, with the small group that had discussion in /mori/ still having a disproportionly large amount of talk about them, especially Hachi and Luci; how the thread activity soars when there's a big Kami event going on; and how people don't really care what group people are associated with as long as they're a good singer, as shown by the mostly peaceful coexistence of Niji and Holo fans here. This thread has also become the defacto AZKi thread to the extent that it's home base for a bunch of Pioneers, in part because we can also talk about nayuta since she's also on topic, though lately the Sora thread has been trying to bring in the Pioneers and whatever Kotone's fanbase's name is to help keep the place afloat. Over time, this place has sort of settled down into a slow drip of good singers keeping the thread alive for people who want to discuss an ongoing event or have a question about someone who's on topic.

I don't really have an interest in playing the game, but it was interesting for me to mentally look back at the history of this place, so you're welcome to do what you will with the info.

Can more musically learned anons help me understand what about her voice makes me like it?
I feel like her tone and enunciation are very clear, and her waver on longer/held notes is just gentle enough to be impactful without being distracting. But, I don't really have any more than a laypersons understanding of music theory and vocal performance, so if anon can see aspects of Sumeragi's performance that are unique that I can't identify, I'd find that interesting.

Do you think they'll let Miona do a solo version of "One For Everything" even though she wasn't a member of the group when it came out? Given that every RiotMusic Vsinger did a fairly good job with their own solo versions, in my opinion, it would be a good gesture toward group unity to let her perform what is arguably the company's big, band-recognizable original song. Hell, hearing Iorin's version is what made me take notice of her.
