From the perspective of a streamer, it's definitely true. I am not a huge streamer(get around 25-40 viewers at once) but even then, only about 5-10 people talk to me. Those other people I literally know nothing about and they are just a number I don't even notice until later.

As a viewer, that's fucking retarded. Using chat doesn't add to you watching, especially if you are watching a bigger steamer and everyone else is just spamming emotes. The only reason to use chat is to try and get a streamer to notice you for a second.

If you're watching 2views it makes sense since you can interact with vtubers directly.
If you watch a big streamer, you're just part of the stream of consciousness so don't bother. Send superchats during zatsu if you're starved for attention and it's not even guaranteed you'll get it.
