What is /asp/?

A thread for aspiring vtubers! Whether your goal is to make the journey as an independent streamer or to gain experience and build a portfolio for agency auditions. Let's help each other grow and make it. Indies are welcome to selfpost, but shill responsibly. Share your knowledge, insights, feedback, discuss what has worked and what hasn't worked for you. And always remember to do your research before posting personally identifying information. That includes both in this thread and in your audition applications to agencies.

Yes! Live2D models can be purchased off nizima.com (Live2D's official marketplace) or booth.pm (general Japanese indie artist website). Be sure to check compatibility with your facial tracking software!

The general rule of thumb is Twitch if your content is primarily based on livestreaming and YouTube if your content is primarily pre-recorded and edited.

>Do you think there's an audience for X, Y, Z content?
First, ask yourself if you would watch a streamer of your skill and experience. Second, do a check on social media and look to see if other streamers are already creating similar content. Don't limit yourself to vtubers, include traditional real life streamers to scope out a potential audience.

I strongly advise on NOT taking the first thing that pops up because every one uses them and I find it very infuriating as a viewer. It's especially true and more grating with music because those tend to be pretty bad to boot.

That's a pretty broad question. I'd say you should just make sure that you are identifiably the same character from design by keeping the same face and complexion at the very least.
I thought what they did with Pekora's new outfit where they replaced her ears with a headband was pretty clever, but that's just my opinion

Funny you ask, one of the first thing I told myself when I started thinking about vtubing was how fun it would be to play around with additional assets such as horns. I even came up with puns for it before having an actual design even ready in my mind.
Also I'm totally making myself a KKK hood at some point.

Depends on what you stream tho. When I want to make myself an opinion on a game I look for pure gameplay video without cam and no commentary, only the game. People caught the need for such streams too since you'll find streams branded as [no commentary]. But yeah it's a niche, that probably won't push numbers.

Even if they watch only the first 5-6 seconds on many videos it still takes the time for the page to load and they most likely don't have an automated process so they have to click the links manually, meaning they have to look where they were at, sometime clicking the wrong video watching propping up the same twice, etc.

if you've ever even looked into any job that isnt basic blue collar or entry level retail, you will realize that connections mean everything. it means your portfolio/audition tape gets looked at by more people, your resume gets moved up to higher priority, if you suck off recruiters they will literally consider you more often and be reminded of you right when opportunities open. i just hit a bit over 2 years at work and almost every person in my department hired after me left and got cycled out, the current quality of the labor force is actual dog shit and any bit of help waning through the heaps of shit is valued by recruiters

Indie and Corpo seem pretty different, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I'm friends with a few people with hundreds of viewers and pretty damn good YT numbers that didn't even get past first round. imo most of them wouldn't really fit in the same way because they don't really make the same type of content you see in corpo vtubers, which is mainly pretty cookie cutter. not saying they're doing anything special or unique more so they just a different type of cookie cutter if that makes any sense

I started streaming a week ago and my friends have been my biggest support from all the follows and views ever since I started.

I have some worries about not doing well with content creation and getting more audience because I'm new at this but I'll slowly figure it out for myself, take notes from other streamers and see what works best for me. It's been 4 months and I think it took that long to realize what type of content I want to make. I want to be the type of streamer streaming playthroughs of a specific genre of video games I like (and I'm aware this won't get me 1000+ views like Ironmouse). But somehow Pekora and Subaru can pull it off. It's strange but I think in the ENsphere, other than indies, the only streamer close to what I want to be is Kiara and she only made it because of the brand. I'm not really sure how to grow other than making youtube videos (like reviews and stuff) and networking with some indies (but audiences carried from them are usually dead unless their streamer hypes them up before hand) and getting good at being entertaining (I still struggle with commentary sometimes but I think I've improved a lot since I started).

Twitch recommendation is a joke unless you're a part of a circle/group of streamers. I'm consistently recommended people in the Krimbo Gang despite ONLY watching Krimbo because they host and raid one another often, which is what the recommended actually looks for the most. It's the same with the IRL Streamers I watch. I'll see a bunch of them recommended constantly and then when a new guy shows up temporarily (since they do a lot of IRL hangouts) he'll suddenly start showing up on my recommended because they start hosting him to keep the viewers within their circle.

Go around to asmr videos and write down triggers you see and like. Then gather those items and/or things to read and plug in your head phones to the mic and begin recording. Listen to the sounds and how to make them most comfortable. If you're shy about speaking, you don't even have to. ASMR is nice about that. When I first started a found a lot of new subs by posting on the ASMR subreddits. They're very nice there.
