Finally got around to reading that new Deer Season chapter... I'm gonna be honest I think that the assessment that it's a horror piece is most likely because the author really wasn't going in to detail for the sex/blowjobs. Therefore anyone reading will more likely catch on to the suspense presented rather than the brief bits of NSFW content. It's a decent read either way but I think if they wanted to 'shake off' the horror they would have to go into more detail and buildup with the blowjobs, i.e. make them a scene rather than a part of one since as is the side of horror is more prevalent and the smut.

Yeah, to do that Matsuri idea justice, you'd have to be in it for the long haul. That entire idea relies not only on an organic attachment to form between characters, but for the reader to be equally invested in the two. That's a difficult ask in stories the length of which are the norm here.

Yeah at minimum that matsuri outline needs at least like 5 chapters to get the bare minimum of going through most of the events mentioned, doing it justice means at least twice that in order to give the events mentioned the depth needed.

As for the Band of the Comet members you either go for deliberate parallels and pick based off of mirroring the Band of the Hawk, or based of off thematically bouncing off of Suisei's ambitions. Either that or pick ones you deliberately won't be using for much more than getting killed in the eclipse.
For the casca question I think in this case unless you're running with the Mori is guts thing that was previously thrown around I think you might as well composite parts of her role into both (You) and into Suisei, so that it's simpler rather than having that question bouncing around stalling the story.
