It might work but less likely to be received well. People already didn't like the concept when they thought Ai's VA was being replaced, I doubt they would care as much for the chuuba if it's basically a different person wearing the skin of a previous chuuba.

that was because they kept the identity of the seiyuu hidden. if they only made it clear that the seiyuu is just playing a character and didn't hide the addition of the new seiyuus in some weird kayfabe, the backlash wouldn't had been this big. the worst you might hear are comparison between the former and current seiyuu if things went this way.

Other things they could do: multiple versions of the same character that collab together. Robots, clones, multi-twins, timeline shenanigans.

But I think, unless they're all quality entertainers, it will feel more like a corporate product. Streamers/vtubers work on the principle that you're getting a candid/normal/unfiltered person; while this is obviously not true for the biggest streamers, fans delude themselves to think that it is and it is why most of them stay.

The main draw of being a chuuba is mostly because they're essentially a real-life anime person talking. Essentially, the avatars are just digital costumes that streamers wear.

If a chuuba character gets their VA replaced, people have less reason to be invested to the character as an actual person, but instead would have the same investment as a character in an anime, comics, vidya, etc.

I feel like that would lead to drama like "Rushia is 1 was better. Rushia 2 sucks." Also would throw off whatever in-gen chemistry is there if a new person just comes in after some time. I feel like it's better for the VA to start with a new model, and get their own chance.
