If you ever looked for new vtubers to watch, how much does a good design matter to you? How much impact does a good design have for someone's success?

Design for initial interest then I’ll stick around and watch if their content is good

>> No.19820880

Design attracts my attention.
Content makes me stay.

In pic related case design and general theme was filtering me for a long time but then I pulled stick out of my butt and you know what? Luna's kinda cool? Sure the "pink baby princess" sounds kinda lame but she has that aura of self-awareness and plays around it well. Also her content is always neat - from lol english lessons to music streams to just fooling around with chat. Definitively an underrated chuuba that deserve to be spoken about as much as FBK. Korone or Coco.

I'm not watching vtubers with ugly designs.

I can enjoy ugly design. But Irys, damn man she's ugly as hell.

Bro i love her design, i can't wait for her to debut as vtuber, she must be a very interesting person to watch,
also i heard she's a good manager

>> No.19821643

First thing I check when I see a new vtuber is content, then I check for voice. Design isn't really a factor to me watching them unless they're offensively ugly like tumblrina trash or some other nonsense. Avatars are unecessary if they are just playing videogames or holding a zatsudan or karaoke. The only time it actually matters is when they do skits utilizing their models, and that literally never happens. Gender doesn't matter to me either unless you're a tranny, and I dislike tranny vtubers because 99% percent of them don't bother with vocal training and just sound like a man. The dissonance between the voice vs the avatar makes the experience unbearable.
Yes, I might as well watch conventional streamers, but conventional streamer culture is absolutely horrid and what vtubing to me is a fresh start to an alternative streaming culture.

Design matters a lot to me.
If I don't like the design, I won't stay around.
But that's probably because I really like drawing fanart of the people I watch and stuff.

>> No.19822303

Always content for me. If I wanted good designs I'd just watch real anime.

design is for first impression, just look at mori, fucking heavily carried by design alone while 99% of her is just pure cringe.

A good design is like a good book cover or the cover of video game, it attracts your attention because you are seeing something beautiful, cute or sexy and you want to see more of it. From the moment your attention is picked, however, it's completely up to the vtuber's personality and content to keep you hooked and not leave when the initial attraction or novelty of her design wanes.
This happened to me with Baelz, I absolutely fucking love her original design, and I think it's one of the most sexiest and cutest of Hololive, but I simply never got around to watch her streams, I only cared for her design and nothing else.
While the opposite happened with Polka, I wasn't a huge fan of her design, but her Legend of Polka content made me start watching more and more of her content and is one of the few Hololive members I actively watch.

>> No.19823690

Design and voice. If either of them are bad, I'll just watch their debuts and if their personality doesn't catch my eye, then I drop them. Design still plays a huge part though.

Tragic. If I was going to be a loli chuuba I'd have asked for henreader. But she ended up with DreamWorks face.

Voice is all that really matters to me, if I don't like a girl's voice then I close the tab.
I've started preferring plainer designs on top of that. But the best design in the world can't make up for an unattractive or uninterested voice.

The initial boost a good design can give a chuuba shouldn't be underestimated. I was initially really turned off Irys because her model is...atrocious, but as a streamer she's excellent so I've ended up watching her the most out of any EN. She better get a version 2 update. Irys doesn't deserve to be stymied by that ugly ass model.

The design is more of a filter. If it's not horrible, let's see what is they have to offer.
Although I don't think there's anyone I'm not following due to this issue. Not that I follow many tubers to begin with.

That one spider girl whatshername had such a cool design I thought I'll check her streams out, but never did, and now I've forgotten the name. Apparently it doesn't really work that way either.

That vtubers avatars are designed is a major differentiating factor from a regular facecam streamer. Having an interesting or visual appealing design SHOULD probably be a major factor for the viewer, but can be ignored or overcome via factors like the streamer's personality or content. You can't, however, overcome bad personality/content with just a bangin' avatar....unless you're just a fuckboi.

Just going by my own preferences, and what other people generally seem to talk about, people are more likely to pick up a chuuba for their model, and more likely to drop a chuuba for how they act.

I really need to watch Suisei more, that design is so perfect! It has a lot of little details, and instead of making the design look like its filled with unnecessary crap, it all just looks so great and it comes together so well! The only thing I could maybe accept being taken away is the crown and even then, that also goes well with the rest.

Suisei really makes Antoine de Saint-Euxpery's quote justice.
