The comment implies that fan backlash is the only thing impeding collabs with guys when there are members who openly don't give much shit about this kind of stuff who never interacted with the Stars. Coco was all about pushing the limits of being an idol and doing controversial stuff, but she only interacted with Kaoru a couple of times (I believe once on Twitter and another time on one of his streams) and then acted like it never happened less than a week latter, and she didn't even acknowledge the Stars comments about her graduation. The majority of the western fanbase refuses to believe that maybe most members that don't interact with males do it because they don't want to, not because of the danger of an anti backlash or the possibility of losing superchats and members. I do not think Yagoo or management personally care if they collab with males.
However the girls are terrified of their audience abandoning them or spreading boyfriend rumors if they do.
This is amplified by the Rushia drama, her only interaction with a male during her entire vtuber career ended up being her undoing even as the company tried to support her by making a statement that their personal lives are private.
Even worse is when non-hololive vtubers like Reimu or ironmouse collab with males frequently they get called whores or shipfags start spreading rumors about them dating any male they collab with. Even if it doesn't directly affect their viewership it does affect their mental health seeing that shit all over social media.

Frankly there's no issue with Hololive being what it is, they do their own thing separate from every other vtuber company and the girls don't want to rock the boat to damage the good thing they have. What I do dislike though is when someone like Bae or FBK does want to collab with males and take the income hit it's met with harassment and negativity all over their YT comments and twitter. If Noel hates men and doesn't wanna touch them that's fine, but not everyone values money above having fun, and the toxic fans need to be put in their place more aggressively for the sake of Hololive's long term survival.

I'm just a Nijifag that thinks male vtubers have a lot to offer and you guys are missing out though. Maybe with Holostars EN once you guys see that male vtubers can be funny and interesting and not trying to fuck your girls you'll open up to males more. Thanks for reading my blog.

The best way is to go for one core audience and stick to it. The worst is not making up your mind and trying to get all of them or switch between them. Some people are mutually exclusive. Normies will diss otaku culture and having them and otaku in the same fan base will cause unhappiness on both sides.

I guess one way of looking at it is GFE is the easiest path for making money but it's not the only path.
