This doesn't apply to a lot of people. Very few vtubers would be considered well-off.
A lot of the ones that do live in expensive ass cities where their income doesn't even matter much due to the massive costs of living.
It's why sensible people live just outside cities and commute - the commute cost is tiny compared to the savings on everything else, including your time wasted travelling.
I say wasted loosely, it's 2022, there's no such thing as wasted unless you yourself are the waster. ("wow I'm so bored", "I can't think of anything to do", etc.)

Besides, the argument falls apart when you realize Discord can run on a damn Raspberry Pi, as does Youtube.
What else do you need for comms? (it's also smarter to do in general in case your game or whatever you were doing killed your computer, you aren't suddenly gone)
