if you ask what the current state of anything is you'll get "oh its the worst it's ever been" because unyielding cynicism is refreshing when you are anonymous. For an actually analysis I'd prolly need to look into viewership and donation numbers and come back with a best point estimation but that sounds like work so I'd rather do what most analysts do and just wing it.

I think both gen of en is in a pretty good spot, gura leading the charge brought everyone up into a huge success that bled all the way down to gen 2. Mori I know sticks out like a sore thumb as far as menha goes but she has her outlet and cover is more than happy with her being able to do stuff outside of hololive so hopefully that continues. Everyone else is generally doing well and keeping to consistent schedule with enough breaks to make sure they don't get burnt out. All of them are working within their niche and contribute to a pretty well preforming gen. As far as gen 2 goes, mumei and kronie are the fucking stars and seem to be blowing up. Fauna and bae both have their niche and it is rather unfortunate that bae despite promoting herself and really trying hard to obtain a large viewership is stuck at sub 500k. Sana is doing poorly and that's really unfortunate given her potential. Hopefully she'll find a windfall but I wouldn't bet on it any time soon.

We're very rapidly approaching an equilibrium where superchats and merch and whatever will not be enough to make streaming a viable career, even among non-vtubers. They'll be forced to choose between going part time and doing it for fun or exiting the field entirely in search of better paying opportunities.
