This. Her songs are easily forgettable. Not that it's Irys's fault, but it's more of Cover being incompetent in hiring better songwriters and composers. She needs challenging original songs where she could fleshes out her emotions and soul as a singer. Otherwise, her karaoke is pretty good. Take her cover of Snow Flower, One Last Kiss and Saudaji, and you could immediately tell she could balance between flat and sharp notes with ease. And she's pretty good at singing ballads and hard rock songs too. But overall, I have to agree some of her originals are bland in the sense that they failed in showing off her true potential as a singer, which Cover is partly to blame for.

Pretty certain Moona's covers are more-or-less independent affairs (since COVER is shit and won't pay for any chuuba side projects). Irys, being a vsinger explicitly, actually gets funded by COVER. This means her music is subject to the neuroticism and micromanagement we've learned COVER managers are known for.

Because Cover seem to have no idea how to produce her, and they let ESL people write her english lyrics. If she really wants to make it as a singer, it won't be with Cover it seems. She's wasting her time musically.

But it's okay. I like Irys as a streamer. But it is wild that in terms of banger songs she's third or fourth in the EN branch.

Also do they even promote her albums and eps outside of japan? Shouldn't she be doing interviews with music sites and getting her album in the hands of english reviewers?

As a Vsinger all IRyS' music is managed and paid for by Cover. The same was true for AZKi. Everyone else can commission whoever they want but they also have to pay for it themselves, unless they get to be part of a forced collab like the Hololive idol project songs in which case Cover also decides and pays for everything.
