>> No.19324456

>>19322662
On that note, I think we should start thinking of ways to nerf ourselves in case we stir any trouble with our magic system. Mai-Chan’s blessing has canon to it that lets us defend it more easily. The war frame idea is cool, and fitting for Komma’s abilities, but they haven’t been explained, so the power is arbitrary. Nerfs for Mai-Chan’s blessing can include: speed; precision; and resource requirement. That is to say, we can say it takes much longer, frequently leads to imperfect healing and cancer that could both explain and be remedied by our medical knowledge, and requires flesh as a resource for any healing to take place. These are all acceptable nerfs in my mind, but keep in mind that we don’t need to accept all of them. Depending on factors in the future, it might be more or less overpowered than the default, so we might be able to keep Mai-Chan’s blessing as described in the manga, or even make it more powerful. Maybe we could say that Mai-Chan’s blessing let’s us graft body parts onto ourselves, or even take over someone else’s body by grafting to it in the right places. We could definitely argue that we would be more resourceful with our chuubanite than others. None of this is definitive, so wait until the technology question gets resolved.

I haven't read the doujin for a while but currently I'm thinking that focusing more on our healing skills might be a better option. Depending on how the chuubanite thing goes, it can be used for either flesh grafting or at least some ways to convert flesh and/or worship power into healing grievous injuries that would otherwise be lethal.
The war frame thing might be a bit too excessive, especially since we don't seem to have canon justification with Comma. It might be interesting to create something shape-shifting or just abomination by throwing flesh and chuubanite into the pot, though, just that I'm not sure if it should have significant combat applications.

>> No.19338493

>>19337839
ya, also, we can get really creative with Mai-chan's blessing, while the other is so powerful and so arbitrary that it makes it kind of pointless to think about all the different ways that flesh can be reshaped to give us an advantage. also, not sure if anyone will get into this, but if we are going to have chuubanite, i think our religion would see it as the blood of the gods, which would justify our perspective of it from a religious standpoint. i would bet that our medical knowledge would allow us to use it more effectively, too. imagine taking drugs by having them shot directly into your veins vs just huffing smoke that contains it. more so if you know enough about how blood flows to inject it into just the right place to get the strongest/fastest efects. this would mean we could do more with less, allowing us to conserve any chuubanite we might have for much longer. i might suggest that when they start really trying to hammer in what chuubanite is, and how it works.

>> No.19339530

>>19338493
I do like me some good shisha I'm thinking more like some form of crystallised life force mentioned before, although I guess in a way it's also the blood of the gods. (note to self: read on tonalli, teyolia and ihiyotl)Regardless, currently there're 2~3 main ways to use them that I can think of.
>use as a catalyst for Mai's blessing and other potential form of fleshcrafting/grafting
>use to enchant accessories and armour made from human parts
>use to make specialised weapons (probably in the form of smoke bombs) that can disrupt enemies to shorten their effective combat distance

>> No.19339946

>>19339530
sounds good to me. the specialized weapons would probably be more focused on utility than combat, since we probably have all we need in that regard, but it is worth wondering if making our weapons able to heal and incapacitate our opponents is a good idea, since we ultimately want to take them back to be prepared as a sacrifice. food for thought i suppose.

>> No.19340204

>>19339946
Well, that's what smoke bombs and other kinds of smoke-based weapons are for. In military jargon I think they're called force multipliers. The way I see it, since we're probably at least above average when it comes to melee-range combat (and specialised in incapacitating and capturing enemies for sacrifice), what chuubanite does should be focused on allowing us to get into said melee range, especially since now the tech level increase means guns will become more effective at range.
As for healing weapons, I'm not too sure about that, since we *do* want the enemies to be incapacitated. I think it's better if one of the smokes can have some kind of sedative effect, so that downed enemies can be kept alive long enough to actually get healed once we bring them back from the battlefield.

>> No.19340346

WE RETURN.

>> No.19340399

>>19340204
ya, disregard the healing part i guess. i was trying to think of ways enchanting our normal weapons would be useful, but saying they just incapacitate the enemy is good enough. so i take it our soldiers will probably be immune due to constant exposure over a long period of time, right? so we wouldn't need to worry about that as much, and even if we did, we would be prepared.

>> No.19340483

so, tsubaki is based off of a manga, too, right? what are her abilities like? is she just a normal vampire?

>> No.19340532

>>19340399
If we do want our weapons to have additional effects, we can go for the more mundane options of smearing drugs or poison on a blow dart or something. My leaning towards smoke bombs is more because it can be deployed from a range, either something IRL like the grenade catapults they used in WW1, or something more fantastic like an atlatl deploying rod-shaped containers.

>> No.19340745

>>19340532
>>19340628
there aren't many magical uses that wouldn't be easier to reproduce with mundane options, especially since we are crafty enough to experiment with those options. chuubanite is supposed to be a finite resource, might be a good idea to not throw it around unless you need to.

>> No.19340941

>>19340628
We can probably afford some pottery at the very least, although making use of eggs sound interesting too. Still, some kind of throwing assistance will be more or less necessary - a good pitcher probably has a throwing range of ~50 metre (I think the world record is like 90 m), while atlatl's effective range seems to be around 140 m (world record is 260 m), which should be almost enough to deploy the bombs from a safe distance against early personal firearms.

>>19340745
I think it's justified in using them to make smoke bombs with special effects, since while we probably have a plethora of mind/body-affecting drugs, the hard part is having them both in somewhat gaseous form, and having their effect survive the explosion that disperses them amidst enemies.

Eh, I would say flashy colour uniform was the norm of the time period we're in, and that's before taking into account our use of psychological warfare. For ranged weapons, I think we might actually use things like slings (including staff slings and maybe something similar to spear throwers too) more than muskets. The effective range is actually comparable if not better, and you can throw all kinds of shit at the enemies to disrupt them without alerting them of your location with your boomstick. The main drawback of sling (low damage) might actually work in our favour, since we don't want unnecessary kills in the field anyway.
