Codeine is a controlled substance in the US, you need a doctor to prescribe it and theres a shitload of restrictions on possessing it. In Japan it can be found being sold over the counter.
I don't particularly like Calli so I personally enjoyed every bit of that shitshow. But the thought of Calli possible spiraling into an opiate addiction whilst her fans stuck their heads in the sand made me kind of sad.
