Duo is good for basic stuff, but after a while you'll notice you're not learning as much. At that point you should just start doing things like anki for sheer vocab, and reading/listening when you can to continue making progress, otherwise you'll feel like you're treading water and not getting anywhere. I didn't catch onto that fast enough, and now my crowns are my shame.

what? no

they are just using it due to chinese cultural influence, don't give me that homophones bull or pure hiragana is difficult to read either they solely use it because muh tradition

literally every chinese dependency that used chinese characters from vietnam to korea dropped that shit after gaining political independence because there's no reason to use something retarded like that unless you're a fuckhueg polity like china with a bazillion of "dialects" which are literally different mutually unintelligible languages unified by a script everyone understands because it's not sound based

the japanese are literally the only people outside china still retarded enough to continue using a chinese derived logographic script which is especially ironic since at no point in history where they controlled by china unlike everyone else who used their writing system

solution to what?

i'm just pointing out that the notion that the japanese language is rendered unusable without kanji to be completely wrong, they could've reformed their writing system to drop kanji without much problem (there were actually proponents of that during the meji era, and replacing kanji with romaji was even goverment policy during the US occupation funnily enough) just like everyone else who used chinese characters did
