if people knew how to reliably grow, they would have done it already. The only difference between successful vtubers with numbers and no numbers is down to plainly just luck and being in the right time and place. It means either growing your audience by grinding for a long time or having a moment go viral or getting shilled by someone far bigger than you. I have come with two proclamations after analyzing over a years worth of data:

1. Stop posting your link in vtuber discords. It is completely pointless, leads to near-zero clicks, never leads to new longtime viewers, and makes you look bad from an optics perspective because it comes off as desperate while also not being helpful in any way to you. If you are in HUGE discords dedicated to a specific game you are playing and they have a shill channel MAYBE it is useful in corner-cases like that, but those people will likely only stick around for that playthrough or less, and then never watch you again anyway.

2. Shouting out other streamers in chat is worthless. The average click-through rate of shoutouts, this includes both raid and "I see someone in chat I like so I share their link" instances is painfully small. In the data I looked over, we are talking about 1 follower to every 40+ shoutouts. The only times you should be shouting out other streamers are if they raid you or are collabing on your channel, and that's only because it is the polite thing to do, otherwise its a waste of everyone's time.
