It's not about t single mechanics, Yu-Gi-Oh now has so many convulted summoning gimmicks that it's daunting for a new player to puck up the game. Just look at Elira's stream, she had trouble understanding how basic shit like gameplay phases work because the tutorial had to spend most of the time explaining extra deck mechanics and retarded pendulum summons.

Making them the materials too generic and allowing tokens to be used was a fucking mistake. They were designed to slow down the game initially but turned the game into OTK solitaire where the goal is stopping your opponents OTK with negates.

Tutorial is very lacking (should be at least 3 tutorial of each summon instead of 1, where 3rd one introduces long and advanced combos) and solo mode is a joke so those helps very little to prepare someone for pvp matches. Instead of almost 2 hours of doing those, copying and watching something like eldlich/blue eyes deck for 25 mins helps much more.
