Why do none of the Indonesian holos speak their own language?

>> No.1791128

Because nobody would watch them

>> No.1791149

They need the EN audience or else their streams would be below 1000 viewers.

>> No.1791153

they do sometimes when they collab together. recent one is the moona/reine stream

They do, just watch any collabs that have Anya in them. It just kills their viewer numbers when they do it because there's just not that many Indonesian viewers.

Yes, the whole SEA region is like that. It must really fuck with development not building on their mother tongue and instead being taught some prescribed Frankenstein's monster of a language, then learning bastardized English from watching anime with horriblesubs. It would explain why they are the way they are.

Moona's Bahasa is absolutely horrible and cringe inducing. If I wanted to hear actual proper Bahasa I would watch Reine.

>> No.1796309

>>1795814
I can kind of understand what she's trying to say especially as a retort to being called fake when giving the positive message to be yourself and don't try to be something you're not.
I can also understand the wrestling analogy as in the viewers suspending their disbelief in order to cheer for more of a archetypes/stereotype's struggle than an actual character in a completely simulated environment akin to comic book shenanigans.
I kind of see my oshi and other talented Vtubers kind of as modern day super-heros. While it's true that they hide their true identities and may act different than their alter-ego, I truly don't believe it means that they are acting fake. They are acting to some degree for sure in the grand scene of things from their archetype to their relationships with the others but they do attempt to portray the best of themselves and become a symbol, an inspiration as to what people can be.
So while I agree that it's all a setup and they are playing characters, I don't believe in my guts that they are fake but are a reflection of all that's good in themselves and by extension all of us.

With this comparison, what are the pro wrestling equivalents of the agencies? Is Hololive the WWE by virtue of having the most popular vtubers, or is it Nijisanji because they have the most amount of vtubers? Is Vshojo the ECW of vtubing because they cater to a trashier audience?

I guess? I never traveled outside of the core territories though so my perspective might be wrong. However, from the stories that I've heard and the people that I've met, I think everyone speaks Indonesian fluently unless you never gone to school or live in the middle of nowhere, or both. From my experience in Java, everyone will speak Bahasa unless they meet their fellow ethnic member, then they will prefer to speak in their own language. Except if you're a Jakartan that can't speak any local language like me.
