It has greatly increased the average age of those who live in the thread, but has greatly destabilized the purpose of the thread, made anons pursue other games, have subjected anons to unfair gambling stakes, have led to widespread avatar fagging (in the poor world to exclusivity) and inflicted severe damage to market sanctity. The continued playing of Mahjong will worse the situation. It will certainly subject anons to greater indignities and inflict greater damage on the natural market, it will probably lead to greater thread disruption and avatar fagging, and it may lead to increased market tampering even in richer players.

So far, it's what I said, he knows how to appeal well to the usual players and how our usual players love the appeal of grooming someone new, took the chance and did it. First, if I really was a newfriend I wouldn't be in there, as it's measured by profit, no newfriend is making 20m+ day-trading, furthermore, I've never said I was new, all I said was "maybe I'm too poor to understand" in regards to buying HOLO$ at that time since it's a purchase that would only make sense for people like Cypher, Priestess or Tako Instruments, yet many others were doing it. Hello /nasfaqg/, we’ve prepared a financial report for you, the Returns Report. Seeing how leaderboard place might not entirely reflect how well or how poorly you are doing anymore and the benchmark page is vulnerable to daily market fluctuations, we’ve collected data from the 200 top active players with open wallets. It was then processed and separated into four categories: Trading, Investing, Dividends, and Wallet Appreciation to gain more insight into your performance during the past week. The tables will use colors to denote possible membership of a corporation/group after they form.

Please keep in mind that this report overlaps one day with the previous report. This was done in order to gradually move it to Sunday, where it will be posted from here onwards.

>Disclaimer & Limitations
Before we proceed, I should note that the Returns Report is still a work-in-progress. The dividends and trading data should be reasonably accurate, but net worth gain due to inflation (wallet appreciation) is still being worked upon, so take it with a grain of salt. In its finished state, the Returns Report will also include losses/gains of net worth due to auctions, gacha, betting, and market fluctuations, painting a whole and complete picture of individual components that caused your net worth to change over the week.
The data collection has several limitations:
• It does not include data from closed wallets.
• Inactivity is denoted solely by the lack of trades in the past week.
• If someone were to open and close their wallets over the week, it’d only count the open-wallet period.
So, if you are active in the top 200 and want to see your performance in those reports, set your wallet to public!

>Income Overview
The data was collected during the 20:00 GMT+0 31.01.2022 to 20:00 GMT+0 07.02.2022 period. Data is sorted from largest to smallest total income during the data collecting period.
To define the sources of income:
- ‘Trading Profit’ stems from selling coins within the last week. Once a coin is sold, an associated ‘buy’ transaction is matched. - ‘Investments Profit’ stems from coins bought but not sold within the last week. In this case, the ‘profit’ is measured by taking the buy price and subtracting it from the 14-day average price of the coin. Negative values here indicate buying coins above their base price and holding them – large negative values are often the signs of heavy oshicoining or spending large amounts of money at once.
- ‘Last Dividends’ is simple enough. It’s the dividend payout from 05.02.2022 dividends.
- ‘Wallet Appreciation’ is the increase in net worth caused by market inflation. Bigger wallets have coins that remained ‘passive’ throughout the entire week are neither bought nor sold; however, the market is trending upwards, and thus they increase in value over time slightly. It is harder to notice, but it has a massive impact as it makes up for roughly 1/4th of the total profits of higher-ranked players. It’s calculated by taking the 21-day average price of a coin one week ago and now, subtracting them, and then multiplying by the amount of ‘passive’ coins in the wallet for every coin. Naturally, if the market were trending downwards, we’d observe a wallet depreciation, loss in value.

‘Trading Income’ is the basic difference between the buy and sell price of coins, ‘Trading Taxes’ are losses from buy/sell taxes in the two matching transactions. Taxes differ based on multicoin count. ‘Trading Profits’ is simply income minus taxes.

In theory, 4.5% is the minimal investment taxes/invested amount ratio, while 45% is the maximal ratio, representing only 1x buys or only 10x buys. ‘Invested Profit’ is the difference between the price the coin was purchased at and its average price, minus taxes; you can consider it a forced sell of every coin bought during the week at the average price. Oshicoiners and high-ranked players, respectively, thrust themselves into buying coins above their average prices if they want to convert liquid into coins for long-term dividend profits.
As you can see, trading differentiates the players a lot. While total income was correlated mainly with rank, especially high on the leaderboard, trading easily differentiates between players who are close to one another.

Higher-ranked players rely almost exclusively on dividends and wallet appreciation for profit. This is reinforced by the need to spend liquid to be able to hold coins that will generate profits over time in an exponential manner, stifling the profitability of trading higher-up.
On the other hand, trading can make over 40% of total income for lower-ranked players in the top 200. It remains the primary method of climbing since it heavily differentiates between players, while dividends are more or less the same percentage-wise.

I haven't measured it exactly and the model of the market I used was focused primarily on dividends. I'm not sure if it can be accurately measured since I'd need data where I, the trader, would engage in dividends sharing and at the same time not engage in dividends sharing using the same strategy during the same period. I'm sure this kind of a simulation can be made in theory, but it'd take a fair bit of effort to ascertain clearly.

I can definitely tell you that there is a 'sweet spot' of weekly spending where you have just enough liquid to take all non-loss trades and sell perfectly. Less than that and you lose opportunities, more than that and you have to take bad deals that lose you money to zero out. Pretty sure this point is below my weekly dividends, so I'd say that it does yield me a bit more freedom to trade and profit from that. That being said, I still play a primarily dividends-oriented strategy and take subpar deals trading-wise if they have good returns.

I don't know if it means anything but for the last 3 weeks I've been essentially out of the money laundering for various reasons. Last week I gained 12 million through the laundering but gave away 30 million in loans and stimmies, the week before that I was exempt for reasons I dont recall, and this week I sent 21 million to priestess but gained 22 million back in repayments.
Furthermore last report included a segment of time where Applause was trading with very little available funds and despite this he ranked 2nd.
Judging from these it seems to me that the money laundering isn't greatly affecting the trading efficiency of the zaibatu members outside the top 20, but for a real accurate answer one would need more data.

I'm not sure entirely, I think for those instances where we do have multiple red days in a row, it's extremely viable. I think for true climbing, holding some liquid over might be worthwhile, but I think it's definitely diminishing the further up the leaderboard you go. Every coin now is cheaper than it will be in the future, i.e. my Holo MPP is still under 25k and I've been buying it for ages as a result of it being Holo, and that's even counting the fact I partially wiped my stockpiled coins for 6666 Towa. Part of it might be account age for me, but seeing that around 8% of my income for that week was from trading and that being on the higher end for the top 50, my gut just tells me that inevitably having more coins just wins, as you've seen with Cypher.

Indeed, if you catch adjustment you'll do fine too, I myself missed out on Aki too and on some of Chloe's moons too, but you are correct, if you can follow the MOVE report data well you'll outperform most of the players, your best bet if you missed adjustments is to look for dips that people ignored because coins went green or fake dips that retards are buying so you can unload some coins
