That is the whole point of gen 1 anon. They are all supposed to be bland to appeal to as many people as possible. Haato is the bigtittied one, Fubuki is the kemonomimi one, Aki is the elf. The best design is Mel.

I was going to say Irys but her design is actually quite good. It's just the art style that filters her heavily. Same applies to Anya.
Roboco's design looks a lot better in 2D. At least she has some sexy booty moments with her 3D model.
I absolutely adore Pako as an artist. His FGO designs never disappointed me once, and he CAN draw some good looking women, but he fell short with Sana. It's insane how her male design managed to be 100x better than her female one.

The point is that they look modern. Lui is a OL, Koyori is a scientist, Darkness is a ancient demon that made the organization. Chloe has a unironically bad design, way too much stuff, but at least she fits in the aesthetic. Iroha looks like she is from a different time.

For me the issue with Roboco is that she looks quite plain if you don't look at her legs and feet. She also has so many acessories is difficult to just think of something iconic on her.
Matsuri is ok, but her Live2Ds are hit or miss.
Iroha is ok.
Anya's design is great but the rig is awful and the second outfit is just plain ugly.
Irys is ok, hair is a little over the top and the art style doesn't work at all as a live 2D.
Sana is weird. The eyes look like they don't belong to the rest of the character. I'm not familiar with the artist so I don't know if it's always like that.

I don't get it. Roboco is sex, so is Sana. Anya is really cute despite hating her boobs and Matsuri is iconic, if a little generic but makes up for it with other outfits. Iroha is also a really good design, it isn't too complicated but stands out. IRyS is a different style but very beautiful, and lends itself to some of the best fanart.

There's a limit to what even her got to meddle with the original design - I really doubt she got a say in that part of her avatar, regardless of liking octopi. She barely ever brings the tentacles out, mostly on a "oh yeah I have this" whim.

On top of that there's constant denial of any non-human traces and she has shown a drawing of her OC character in stream, that she made years ago. It's pretty much her, but with zero octopi features.

She also specifically requested for the weird tentacle hair teats to be removable in the newest avatar, and turned into horns when they weren't.
