Doesn't sound that OP. I remember that monarch deck has a card that deny any kind of special summon so that should block many of this deck's gimmick. From the weak deck i use (ice barrier) there's also a monster that has effect that force enemy to only be able to use 1 spell per turn if there's other monster in the field with the same name.
I assume other, better deck has even more way to negate it

Surprising Free to play friendly to start with. They give you enough gems to make at least 1 or 2 meta decks however the gems seem to dry up a bit later.

In terms of the solitaire shit, that's still a thing. A lot of modern decks rely on comboing into other monsters and summoning 4+ things to your board, it's a big complaint of the game when compared to how simple Pokemon TCG or even magic is. I will say, if you play it for a while you do get used to seeing the same cards and learning about them though.

It's only missing the last 2 sets and that's it but Konami plan on having this game as their main online game for tournaments etc so it will get them.

Way less jew than DL, you get enough gems from the solo missions and dailies to make any deck you want (including meta). You just have to be a bit sensible and not roll on like 5 different packs. Have a plan in mind first, so if you wanted to roll on timelords you absolutely could.

The economy is infinitely better than links (which required you to play for like a month before finishing your first deck), master duel let's you craft 1 or 2 decks pretty much right off the bat, though the gems dry up really quick after that.
Cardpool wise there's almost everything before BODE, you just need to understand how the secret packs work to get the deck you want.
