Becoming a Hololive Mama is the illustrators Holy Grail now apparently. In Comiket Hololive doujins were extremely popular with some mamas selling out within an hour of doors opening. Kakage says that some illustrators would even be willing to do it for free because it's so lucrative now.

That's pretty wild. These are some of the most expensive artists you can commission for a vtuber. Does any other vtuber company have that level of prestige. Does Nijisanji and VShojo have that?

Keep in mind that Kakage is a Hololive super fan whose dream it was to become a Hololive mama so he's a bit biased, but yeah if Mama's can sell their own merch then it's definitely worthwhile. Every Holo mama made a killing at Comiket.

色塩 SHOKUEN/oxSTL(twitter) should get a shot especially now that his only daughter from Prism is graduating. Also, it would be nice to see him create something that isn't too reminiscent of Finana. He's way too skilled to be designing vtuber knockoffs. Hopefully, the next agency that commissions him is way more imaginative than that.

Kagage has a bias, but in full context he has a point. Illustrators all want to be paid but sometimes its better to maximize exposure or prestige. It used to be FGO gatcha, but now its hololive mama/papa.

The money for design might be big or small, for a lot of work; you're designing shit for her entire career and making stuff for the merch. But even if you dont get paid, the clout and exposure can open doors in the industry.
