I've picked up the series after watching Ame play Doom 2016.
IMO Eternal is definitely closer to 'zoomer shooters'. Ame will do well, but she might be confused with the amount of new mechanics at the beginning. I can see her falling in love with super shotgun.

The one thing i hated about Eternal was just how many unlockables are. The menu looks like one of those mobile games with 12 different currencies, you need keys to open doors to put on batteries to get sigils to unlock passives to activate skills.

And there's bullshit hidden under those unlockables that shouldn't be there in the first place like having better aerial control. I still liked the game but every collectable and unlockable was too much for my boomer brain, i just wanna shoot god dammit.

Old games are really good, but also really frustrating, you have to learn every NPC routine in every mission so that you can get away with sneaking into places and killing people unnoticed, and it looks really cool when you finally pull it off, but it also means you have to replay the same 5-10 minutes 100 times. Absolution is bad and it's very different, almost linear. Haven't played the new games.
