I'm still surprised at how Bae and Gura ended up being the ultra competitive gamers for EN this year. Ame has always had the gamer label attached to her since he always gets salty but she rarely practiced for anything except for the SportsFes obstacle course. Ina has the gamer mindset but she doesn't really just go on a grind to get good at something. I guess Bae really is competitive in nature.

I do hope she rests up and takes like a 2 day break. Her schedule this week was kind of overwhelming if you wanted to watch all her streams life. I am wondering what she has planned for next week. I'm assuming MC since she probably wants the girls to watch her fireworks show after they get the new costumes. Then sprinkle in some collabs and zatsudans to complete the schedule

Bae has the potential to reach Suisei levels of comeback. Suisei did a 2 week training arc for 2019, barely made it to finals group due to shitty rng, then won the zako cup. Next year declared that she will win 2020 and did.

Bae did a 1 week training arc, had 0 chance for finals group, but essentially "won" zako cup since Mio was smurfing. Bae has shown that she is competitive and she is still missing her signature game so it could end up becoming Mario Kart.

I'm mainly approaching it by looking it at the mindset of both players. Suisei used her competitiveness to go from not knowing jack about MK to playing well in 2 weeks. Then when she lost, she used her loss as determination to become much better the next year and win it all.

I think Bae has the same level of competitiveness and mindset to match what Suisei did. I did not expect Bae to improve that much from just her 1 week training arc. She was literally just missing basic multiplayer concepts coming into the tournament and thats the type of shit you can't just learn within a week

Towa is probably one of the best collab partners out there. An example is the Towa/Roboco/Ame Apex stream which is still my favorite JP collab from Ame so far. Myth was forged in adversity. They had no idea what to do but they stumbled into success, the weight of expectations and dread of constantly fucking up/not meeting those expectations almost crushed them. It was like a bootcamp, when Mori calls the rest of myth her lifelong friends, she means it, they're practically her sisters.
Council debuted under different circumstances, they were more prepared and they knew what to expect. There was no hardship to make them bound over.
Sana situation is unfortunate, she's weird enough to be a good hololive talent, she's very cute and can be fun. Her call-ins on Mori's pokemon and JK streams were an absolute delight. But going "I'm gonna do whatever I want because that's just me and if you don't like me, you can watch someone else" from the start is a huge mistake. She should've put in the work, bulild up her core fanbase and then went that route. It's just basic work ethic. When my grandpa died I arranged for his funeral and went to work, and I did my job like any other day.
Kronii has a great voice but personality of a styrofoam block. And yeah, she barely streams. Again, work ethic.
Hiring Mumei, who is a student, was a mistake from the start. She's very weird, so a good hololive talent, she's quick-witted and has good comedic timing, but streaming requires commitment. Mori even talked about this, she specifically mentioned how one of the essential requirements for holo audition is capability to consistently put out content. You can't consistently put out content and study for exams at the same time. You either chose only one thing and dedicate your time to it, or you sacrifice your sleep and health to do both, quality of both gets sacrificed too. Again, work 101.
Fauna has a great sense of humor and potentially can be very entertaining but her voice, her blessing, is also a curse, because I can't listen to anything she says without falling asleep.
Bae is cute, loves hololive, loves her fans, knows how to wrangle chat, competent, streams regularly and always tries to improve. Good work ethic, erai! Funny how at debut I found her the most unremarkable, but now we're end up here.
So, problem is, cover hired great talents, but didn't force them to work as a team. They always can manage on their own, they don't need and they don't want to rely on each other, like Myth. They're solo hotshots with severe lack of commitment.

When containment started and /vt/ was created, /hlgg/ became a "unity" thread while the splits were free to hate on other vtubers as they pleased. (Bare with me here).
Basically, /hlgg/ was where you go to support all holo vtubers, with no hatred towards anyone and the splits were left to their own devices as "the fans reflect their oshi" started to become a thing. ie: Ame's was a unity split (no active hatred towards gen mates), while others were okay with open discussion.

/hlgg/ lost the "unity" moniker for some time now, but the splits still classified as "unity" or not.

What? Do you not get what unity means? By here you mean /vt/ as a whole? I'm gonna humor you in naively good faith here but, it just means staying united as a whole, whether it's with all of Hololive, a branch such as JP/EN or a generation such as Myth/Council. I wouldn't call it a meme nor does it really come from anywhere. It's just a show of unity when Holos get together to do stuff or support each other, albeit sometimes it feels more forced than others.

For Council in particular I'd say they started feeling somewhat united due to having weekly collabs and because their chemistry was pretty good, however after their first month that kind of fell off so I couldn't really say this now. As for Bae I'd still say she's a pro-unity, as she clearly cares for not only her gen, or even branch but all of Hololive, whether it's ID, stars, JP or EN as can be seen in her interests, collabs and interactions.

I do fully agree with Sana and I'm an Ausfag, so I know that getting around was a cunt of a thing to do, but she really did fucked herself in every way possible. Kronii's work ethic is fucked, but her MC OCD and general weirdness works well for other to play off, which leads to some some great moments.
I respect both Fauna and Mumei, Mumei for sticking with the studies to finish the semester (not sure if the US has finished their semester thou). I would've done the same. And while I don't watch Fauna for the same reasons, she hasn't shrugged off the opportunity that Hololive gives (second most vods/videos uploaded compared to Bae) and has done JP collabs.

Aside from a few exceptions like TING, her early streams were also weak. Sure, those weird meme games and Bayonetta might make a few clips, but they were bad at keeping people interested. You could go on and on about her early problems like the mic setup, flip-flopping target audience, etc. Fortunately, Bae listens to criticisms and has the work ethic, so she solved many of them. Unfortunately, average viewers have low attention spans and went back to their established oshis when they found early Bae disappointing.
As for the state of unity, I am hoping Bae would become more confident and actually use her 'council leader' position more actively. Maybe even wrangle her underachieving genmates into shape (which really should be the job of management, but I won't get into that). I liked Bae's Aussie voice but the streams were dull so I went straight back to watching Gura. After watching a few collabs of Gura with bae, she was pretty funny and the merging of the MC servers, the sports festival, pokemon BDSP gym leader clips (that feature several EN girls at a time), and MK, she has gotten a lot of publicity now.

I agree with most parts except for Fauna, with slight reservations about Mumei.

I find Fauna's solo gaming streams to be very entertaining. She's good with keeping the flow going and her ability to ad-lib is top tier to me. I even find her more energetic than Kronii for gaming streams. I will agree with falling asleep from her voice during zatsudans, but the way she presents her topics and her unique vocabulary are enough to keep me in there.

For Mumei I think she does put out a good amount of content. It's just a lot of them are guerilla and unarchived karaoke streams so it often feels like she's not putting out a lot of content. I think she is pumping out a decent amount of hours once the school semester was wrapping up. Not sure if she enrolled for Spring semester but if she is then I'm not optimistic about her stream schedule moving forward.

As for Bae, her start was very underwhelming. I'd actually say that about almost all Council members except for Fauna since her Spore playthrough got me hooked immediately. This is probably a blessing in disguise since if they were a bit more entertaining then good chance I would have focused on them instead of sticking with Bae.

The things that made me realize she had potential was from her TING, first zatsudan, and first karaoke streams. Her streaming style and content reminded me of Subaru/Pekora/Miko. I thought to myself if she streams consistently and strives to improve herself then she'd be setting herself up for greatness. And sure enough she did. Currently Bae has already exceeded all my expectations of what I thought she would be at the 6 month mark. Whats amazing to me is at this point there is still a lot of untapped potential in her.

As long as she keeps up what she is doing then she will probably start blowing up in popularity around Spring. Bae has already put the pieces on the table via the diversity of her content and cross-branch connections. Just need to find the way to put them all together and get the perfect formula for success.

In a way Council have some parallels with JP Gen 2. Sana and Ayame are rather similar in streaming consistency. They both disappear for extended periods of time and when they come back they generally do longer length streams, but Ayame started doing that 2 years after debut and had already established a fanbase, and she also does work for Cover with how many episode of Hologra she was featured, while Sana doesn't have the same luxury. Kronii's parallel would be Shion because of the mental health issues, but one strongarms it and makes it part of her "personality", while the other would rather take her time and deal with it on her own. Mumei is definitely the hardest here, but with the recent Aqua arc of dropping the hardcore gamer moniker and focusing more on her idol aspect I would say they share some similarities, with Mumei trying to juggle school and streamer responsibilities but giving more attention to the former I would also compare Mumei with Izuru since they're both college students that have a ton of potential but aren't willing to focus all their attention to Holopro until they're done with Uni. Fauna and Choco are similar because of content and how much they stream, but that's about it since Fauna doesn't have the huge network of friends Choco has. And Rrat's parallel would be Duck, considering how they're both hard workers, tend to have better interactions across Holopro in general and not their Gen and are committed to help the brand grow in general. It's highly likely I'm being biased here and you could trace comparisons with any other gen and branch, but that's what Council reminded me after a while. They're friends but mostly scattered, half of them have troubles keeping up schedules and the other half is finding more success by build relationships with other members. Hopefully when the coof finally dies out (yeah, I might be a little too optimistic here) and they can finally travel without having to deal with all this shit we might see a resurgence in the unity with them being able to do offcollabs.

I think she's probably one of the best in Hololive at learning things on the fly. The reason she blazes through tutorials and skips things is because she probably prefers experiencing things first-hand to learn. That, and flopping around makes for better content as long as not overdone.

The Mario Kart training arc is the best example so far of how fast Bae can pick up on things and improve. I'd watch her play online, make some mental notes on what she should probably work on the next stream, and the next day see that Bae already made an attempt to address those problems off-stream. The nerves are definitely the one thing holding her back. I honestly think she would do better if she was drunk. All the other en's in the tournament barring Ina held their nerves very well. Other than that, her improvement rate is really good and she is capable of putting in the practice.

GL is both a low skillfloor high ceiling weapon.
its easy to just pick it up, poke burst poke burst with wide shells, and offers a safety net with the shield.
the problem comes with movement and positioning, which can be solved by Getting Gud

Not sure if it's my bias talking, but I think SA will be good for Bae to learn on. Its got enough mechanics that will give her a challenge (learning when to switch form, positioning and movement within each form etc.) but she can get away with button mashing and still do semi-decent with it.

Certain LS and swaxe attacks don't bounce off enemy hard zones regardless of sharpness. sharpness is usually a huge obstacle for new players because monster hard zones vary.
LS and swaxe also let you move decently quickly compared to slow-moving weapons

Compared to the GL which is slow and eats sharpness, they are much better for players looking to learn the game.

Personally I vote sns because it is the best but that's my personal autism

SA its not a good weapon to start at all. It constantly changes your movement between sluggish and normal, it has a lot of slow attacks, has a resource bar that is integral and cant be ignored and so on.
The best weapon to start will always be SnS or GS because both have a decent bit of skill expression while also being super easy to pick up. Also if she cant grasp sharpness easily, then she's doomed, because World already made a gigantic tutorial that screamed ''FOR FUCKS SAKE WATCH YOUR SHARPNESS'' and people still missed it
