Pick the song you want to use first, then pick a wrestler that matches that song. You can also try writing your own narrative interpretation of events. For example, for You Know His Name, I highlighted the Battler/Agent 47 rivalry a bit (although I lacked footage to do it well), and made the promo about Mep47 vs RRattler, leading up to Mep47 remembering all of his failures as he ascends the stairs in his intro.
I think another thing that's important is to figure out what your "key" scene is, the climax of the promo, and start from there. If you know the BEST part of your promo, you can build everything else to be in service of that section.

you can't use custom entrance settings for title entrances in 2k20 (or 2k19), they removed it for some reason (it was in 2k18 and previous)

Alright, here is how I usually make my promos. Let us take ‘’I'm back ( To La di da )’’ as an example :

1. Visualize the promo :
If you already decided on a song, the next thing you should do is to listen to its over and over again, visualizing all of the scenes that you want, where you wanted it to be. For ‘’I’m back’’, I have listened to the mix a couple of dozen times when I decide to make a promo using it to get accustomed to the beat, the flows, and the lyrics. Then after that, I would split the song into multiple different sections of Hook – Verse 1 – Chorus – Bridge 1 – Hook – Bridge 2, etc… And then I would listen to that small section another couple of dozen times, imagining what kind of scenes i want for each sentence of the lyrics.

A trick that I like to do when I use a song that has either a chorus or hook that repeat themselves is that I would use the first part of that hook/chorus to show the entrances of the girls and then when the hook/chorus is repeated, I would show a fighting scene of those girls in the order of their entrances that appeared in the hook/chorus. Doing this would slowly raise the hype factor of the promo and because you have already established the connection between the action scenes of the girls and something recognizable about them ( their outfit and color schemes ) Even if the viewers didn’t recognize who any of them are or the action scenes is too fast, they would still unconsciously noticed the synchronicities and make their viewing experiences more enjoyable.

2. Tell a story using the lyrics and visuals:
90% of the time, this would fly under the radar but for the few that noticed the lyrics and what are they seeing on the screen is more than just ‘’Cool moment sync to the music’’, those viewers would like it even more.

In ‘’I’m back’’(besides the Coexist section of the promo) all of the characters that appear in the two verses, appeared there because their character or lore has something to do with the lyrics that is being sung:

3. Eye tracing :
This technically is in the same category as ‘’Tell a story using the lyrics and visuals’’ but this is important and essential enough that it has its own dedicated tips and tricks. But if you don’t know what eye tracing is then I will quote from this very helpful article on Eye Tracing :
‘’Eye trace is about being aware of where the audience's eyes are looking so that when you cut to a new shot their gaze doesn't have to jump around to an entirely new position.
For example, imagine a trailer for a game where the character jumps on platforms all over the screen. If the character jumps from the left to the right, at the end of the shot the audience's eyes will be looking at the right side of the screen. If the focus of the next shot is on the left, their eye has to move all the way from the right to the left in order to continue following what is happening.
You might be thinking "Geez, is it THAT hard for someone to move their eyes a little bit to the left?" No, it's not, at best it will happen in a fraction of a second, but if the shot itself is only a fraction of a second, by the time they adjust, the shot might be over, and they might have to adjust yet again! If the editor and/or director is inconsiderate of the time needed for the audience to re-orient their eye (especially across multiple shots), the audience might give up, and get frustrated. They might not even know they're frustrated, but they're likely to feel confused, and when they're done watching they're not going to be able to understand what they saw.
GOOD eye trace means when the character jumps from the left to the right, the following shot's focus is also on the right.’’

4. Keep the viewers guessing :

One very useful and simple trick I have for this is that you will take an entrance for example, and just flip it and do a little zoom. It works wonder imo (unless you have words or letters appearing in the raw footage for that scene)
You could also change the contrast, giving the same footage we all seen a millionth times a new coat of paint basically. But for me, my preferred method is to introduce the viewers to an entirely different scenarios or visual styles.
In ‘’Mama Said Knock You Out’’, it was Joker Polka shooting Kiara Murray in the head.
In ‘’This is HFZ Deluxe’’, it was the footage from divegrass and SolCal 6
And in ‘’I’m back’’, it was the Kanata/Coco and Dark section of the promo.
But don’t forget to make it so the viewers can still understand what they are seeing. You can’t just cut into a scene of something they know jackshit about and expect them to be hyped about it. Either use the footage from a very popular games/movies/memes that most of them, if not ever experienced it for themselves, would have at least seen footage of it somewhere else (Yakuza 0)

You could also give them a fair warning of what they are about to see before they seen it (scenes from Dark have its logo glitching in and out beforehand)
