Well, I agree, but I'm a guy and I spent more time indoors than outdoors so I practically grew up here. Most chuubas are of a higher strata, and they're girls, so it's going to be a culture shock to go to the internet's dive bar. 4chan is mainstream in the sense that it hasn't been underground since before 2007, but it's still viewed as a hive of scum and villainy. I imagine that its popularity/notoriety makes a lot of them take a curious look before they run away in disgust after reading posts about eating their shit or crushing their ribcage for sexual pleasure.

I have my suspicions but now more than ever the rest of the internet is more than eager to adopt anything that comes out of 4chan, The only things other communities don't immediately copy are immediately offensive ones, and even those are often changed into less offensive versions.
So any 4chan-like mannerisms they might show could very easily have been adopted outside of 4chan.

Different medium in my mind. I'm wiling to wade through tons of content of my Oshi because I'm retarded and it's very much a passive consumption. If I'm putting on anime, it's going to be a focused thing where it's taking my attention. vtubing is just another option for podcasting. Also doesn't help that I want to fill the lack of love life in my world that my Oshi fills.

That is an understandable and popular sentiment, though I feel like you somewhat underestimate the amount of things that are out there that you both have the ability to like and which are going to help you build understanding.
