Man, the new song is very different from what I expected. Not that I know exactly what I did expect in the first place. The drums are not leading the song as heavily as in Wonderlader, but they're still going nuts in the background. Strings doing work as well, especially on the left side. Kind of feels like the violin is always leading the transitions, then at some point around halfway through it just takes the lead and guides the song the rest of the way.
It sounds surprisingly busy for how gentle it is, and even a bit on the melancholic side. Not depressing like Shion's Mage of Violet, but definitely a bit somber.
Still, very very gentle, could easily fit as an Atelier opening, much like Rushia's Iris.
Is the composer some big deal dude? This sounds very nuanced.
Wonderlader was a big surprise to me, but I was ready for this one to be great after that. Still surprised that it's a bit challenging. I was expecting it to be more "straightforward", digestible, I guess? Already listened to it almost 10 times, just trying to get used to the sound.

He did a bunch of songs for ClariS, including the Madoka OP. Aside from that he has a metric shitload of composition credits in anime songs, and from a lot of big titles too, like SAO, Kuroko no Basket, Monogatari and Raildex. He doesn't have that many hits as big as Connect, but he's a seasoned pro.

In Hololive, I guess the closest to this other than Tenshi no Agape would be Watame's Zero no Ashiato, or Aki's Shallys. It has that high fantasy sound to it.

I’m slightly concerned though, even though Coco is gone wouldn’t it have been fine to show her name on the plaque? I find that slightly strange, it’s not like she’s “talking about her” directly by showing it, I guess we should be happy she’s still allowed to discuss their trips together and such but I’m still a little let down that she can’t even show Coco’s name.

This game seems so weirdly balanced to me. If you're first, and good enough that none of the carnage from behind is reaching you, there's basically nothing short of maybe 2 consecutive blue shells that can threaten to take you down. If you're on any other position, it can literally change within seconds, but if you're first (and far enough away) it's a very stable position to be in. This is mostly from observing though, I've only played the game a little.

That's my biggest problem with it. Holos do take it seriously and Kanata is taking it too seriously because of narratives. If it was any other game she'd be a much more confident contender because sudden stunlocks ruin her mood like nothing else and then she starts panicking.

She's not the one who picks the game for tournaments sadly. And it's not really fair to say that she's just doing this game. She already conquered quite a few games she failed at before and had her revenge. Don't forget her recent Hardcore Minecraft triumph some people outright deemed impossible. Mario Kart is about the last one of the games she debuted sucking at and she's not overconfident about this tournament either.

And who knows, anyone can get lucky and unlucky here. She has done her best considering the circumstances this year. Her improvements now allow her to capitalize on her lucky streaks and more importantly on others unlucky ones, not waste her opportunities to win when things are in her favor. It's all down to luck but it is so for everyone else too. And I somehow doubt she's gonna be like Aqua if she's not gonna win the tournament.

The only reference we have to go on for Kanata's composing is Kiseki Musubi, but it's probably not going to be that idol-ish, so I have no clue. If I had to guess it's going to be something cool-ish, but not straightforward rock. The more I read about it ἀγάπη is such an extremely interesting theme to base her song about. There's things you can read into this "highest form of love". Agape was used in Greek to distinguish itself from eros, sexual/romantic love. I think it's a statement that you take away the romantic feelings you might have for her there will be something unconditional there, a higher form of familial love. Is it not quite bold to associate the feelings between fan and idol to the Christian and his God? This is something I think only a true believer in idols would have the balls to do.

I don't know how to put it, the highest love scares me a bit.

While Kanatan is an adorkable comedian, people forget that she is *very* serious about idols, both as an idolfan and as idol herself.
She very much so subscribes to the "bringing happiness" mindset on a deeper level than some other holos who just want to have a good time, find friends and be well liked. She has a clear image of what she thinks an idol is and strives to be that way.

I think it's the only fair way to "love" when idols are concerned. It goes beyond parasocial or romantic relationship, the baseline of it doesn't assume either side owes the other something. It is like the word implies removed from "desire"; to love someone without expecting to be gratified or given something, just for who they are, is it not in a way what idol fans mean by "we'll support you not matter what"? And Kanata always emphasizes that she doesn't take her fans for granted and wants to be someone who can make their lives better, I think it is one of its sides as well. It is also in a way unconditional.

I think there's still a clip around where Kanata talks about the difference of idol love from just desire to date, so she definitely understands the subject. And it is the way she establishes this even ground with you where she knows that you know that she knows what is expected of her is pretty rare.
