Early on, Hololive's box- push strat wasn't that different from other Chuuba companies. At best it was above the norm thanks to Asacoco but shit like that could be copied. What really pushed it to what it is today is all the yabs. The Capcom and Taiwan yabs forced cover to be more insular since either outside parties didn't want to involve themselves in that mess or they thought that was the beginning of the end for HL. It also caused the girls and the collective fanbase to lean more on each other for support. Not to mention it gave everyone a clear villain, and a very cartoonish one at that, to band against. And not just any villain mind you, but an entire country (or at least that's the perception). As a result, Hololive's box-pushing game reached something beyond just promoting the other people in your company to the fans. It suddenly became it's own self-sustaining ecosystem. Shit was basically the equivalent of a protag going SSJ for the first time back when it actually meant something. So yeah, I doubt most companies would want to go through that kind of training arc since they probably wouldn't be able to survive it.

I know those yabs too but none of those could be called company ending except for the Mel scandal which could have easily turned HL into .Live 2.0. The Capcom strikes not only could have killed HL as a company but for awhile (up to even now) a lot of outside parties and fans considered Cover as an incompetent company because of that event. Shit also happened at the start of the permission arc so Hololive for a while went through a phase where they could only stream absolute kusoge. I think that trained a lot of fans to start watching streams for the girls specifically instead of the actual content. The Taiwan Yab, especially the ensuing bug infestation that followed, would have made any other company kneel. Bigger, more international companies did afterall. But Cover survived even that and the ensuing shows of unity by the girls endeared them even more to the fans.
