Most JRPG convention comes from Wizardry and Ultima and not DnD directly. Especially not Forgotten Realms which is largely western autism, again only having an influence in Japan through computer games like Baldur's Gate. Dark elves don't feature prominently in any of that stuff. The JRPG style dark elf is tanned and kind of a dick, but not a black skinned, genuinely evil piece of shit who lives underground.
