Hololive "unity" culture legit spelled doom for Gen 6. There was nobody there to be the leader to tell them to be more humble and slow their roll. Let's talk about VOD views on Gura's channel for minute in a more traditional Youtube sense and not streaming sense.

Her views are very consistent with an average of 500k per vid, and add to that, that's multiple times a week. Many popular youtubers also have that consistency but they only have one or two vid per week, even months. Gura, on the other hand, is putting multiple vids per week with 500k on average. Her vids are like 1-2 hour long and not in a traditional short form. That's really impressive. This also applies to other big Hololive members like Pekora and maybe Subaru or Miko.

I feel like this might put YT a bit on top of Twitch because of the ability to save VODs and let viewers rewatch them.

I think machinima kinda killed itself with scummy deals and shit. In some ways they might even have been the proto-hololive formula, with a group of streamers doing independent streams and occasionally collabing.
