On one hand, I agree that there has to be some kind of a high risk-high reward mechanic in place. Something you could put a lot of your wealth into, and win or lose it all.
That being said, I'm not sure if multicoin is the right idea here. If you remove the taxes and buff it to 10x or more, it'll solve the problem but only temporarily. As wealth amasses, people will be forced to rely on dividends once again.
Additionally, I see a lot of people that still are making mistakes when assessing multicoin viability, meaning that it's not 'solved' yet, or at least not commonly.

This just boils down to huge amount of coin volume with very low profit marigins from either dividends or swing trading. If someone plays okay-ish and you play perfectly (not implying I do, far from it), you will have minimal edge over them. The wealth gaps are so large right now that it's nigh impossible to rise that way... which defeats the point of the game and leads to people seeking alternate goals (oshiboards, real oshiboards, hats, supers, item collecting, coin amount goals etc.).

Either way, I think there has to be a high risk-high reward mechanic. Shorting, or especially options fit the bill. Multicoin would be a wrong mechanic to rework for this purpose, I think, even if multisell clearly needs a buff.

Shorting and options aren't that complicated, and if they had very high investment cap/no cap on it, it'd provide the player input you want. There's also the 'easy' fix of upping volatility across the board, adjustment volatility and player-driven volatility, but that's also just a temporary solution.

Large positions themselves are okay, I think. The issue now is that a) there isn't that big of a difference in coin dividends, so it's harder to edge out other players, b) there isn't that big of a difference in buying/selling prices at adjustments, which, again, makes it harder to edge out other players even if you hypothetically made better trades than them. Volatility increase increases the portion of money made by swing-trading, which is a lot more active and differentiating than dividends into which players are basically forced to rely on in the late-game.

Well, about a month ago I ran some simulations and found the optimal strategy to be just buying whatever people are buying and selling what people are selling at any given moment. Which makes sense, since it's how I climbed the leaderboard, but it was nice seeing it confirmed. Sadly, all the other strategies I could think of were outperformed by this simple heuristic. Maybe I'm just too stupid and can't come up with anything efficient, who knows?

I believe there's also a purely psychological aspect to having these large positions. Seeing the green and red %s on your profile every day used to be an indicator of your day's performance, NOT your stacks' value changes. It should tell you how you're doing day-to-day, how good your trades were. Instead, it's just subject to the wave that is the economy. It doesn't feel as good, simply put. It doesn't actually impact your performance, but it sure as hell makes you a bit more miserable. Not sure if I said it in the post I linked, but I feel like I'm drifting in an ocean without any control. PERCEIVED control is half of what's important here, I feel like I'm not doing anything at all and am helpless (right now I'm actually doing very little due to stagnation, but you should get my point)

Now? I'm just trying to edge out others ever so slightly in my strategy, but my individual leaderboard position no longer matters to me due to the auctions. I know for a fact people STILL make multicoin mistakes. Even people who have autotrading sheets. People STILL end up with 2000 shares of Ayame and other shitcoins that can't be reasonably explained by anything else than just buying the dip, despite the fact that they cannot sell it during daytrading nor hold it for dividends.

It's gonna sound like nostalgia, but 'back in my day' you could buy some coins as soon as an announcement was made and be done with your position for tomorrow within a few hours. You would absolutely BTFO anybody who 1. got the news late and 2. relied on poi (these particular people would get uber BTFO'd). There was a reward for doing your reps which put you above the herd, but you can't get that reward now because we have so many coins that it doesn't even matter. Therefore radical multicoin scaling is necessary, since we can build those positions quickly (and sell quickly enough to make major gains). THAT is how you make the game competitive again (at least, not at a snail's pace)

When your stack is large enough, the actual act of buying 2x vs 1x makes your net worth increase more quickly. And depending on volatility, it is enough to offset the "debt" you incur from the 2x tax, and sometimes even 3x. cypher's stack sizes might be worth exploring for a lot of coins he multi-buys.

Please, look at the general trends of coins over time lately and tell me if overbought is doing something or not. Protip: it is. It works the way it's intended.

By observing Marine for a while and knowing that the price updates every 16 transactions (with a little variance due to rounding/multicoin transactions, I presume, plus assuming that it means '16 global transactions' rather than transactions of the same coin), this is the impact of a single sell on the price.
Assuming a single buy would move the market in the same way, taking the average volatility per transaction as $0.56 and the price of Marine at 20k, you'd need 16072 shares of Marine to 'offset' the net worth lost on tax. That's presuming that volatility is linear (it isn't, it scales with volume and market trends). Except for G-Horn, all of the new stuff worth having in the 30th Event is F2P. The Halo-themed weapons are all the good ones, and they're all free drops from the F2P 6-man mission. The only thing P2Ps get is the dungeon, some streetwear cosmetics, G-Horn (which is in the dungeon), and a very small jump start on grinding the F2P mission (You still have to do 69 runs for the Magnum's catalyst).
It is a pretty well-designed dungeon, though. Not sure if I believe it's worth $25, but I don't feel like it was a waste and the F2P stuff is also really good.
I think if you quit because you were burned out, come back and play a few rounds. If you still feel burned out, don't feel bad about taking a break until Witch Queen in Feburary. If you left because of dumb balance decisions, come back and fuck around with some stuff. The 30th came with a massive balance sweep to how abilities and supers work cooldown-wise.
If you quit because of PvP then only come back if you want to relive the Halo glory days, because right now Crucible is Magnum & Battle Rifle spam featuring half of an energy sword. They even made ARMOR LOCK, BITCH an F2P emote.
